4 Genius Ways To Repurpose Your Blog Content And Draw In More Viewers

Disclosure: collaborative post

Today, you’re going to learn how to repurpose your blog content to bring in more viewers to your website. The obvious advantage of this is that it helps you make more money and grow a more successful blog. The larger your audience, the more benefits you tend to see.

Before we begin, there are two pretty important questions that need to be covered:

So, let’s get those out of the way before we move on:

What does it mean to repurpose content?

Content repurposing is the idea of taking existing blog content and turning it into something different. For example, you turn an article into an infographic. It’s a new type of content, which means it has a different impact on the reader. Bloggers and businesses both use content repurposing as a way of generating more content for a website while doing less work. Instead of creating a new post from scratch, you use the information in an existing post and tweak it for a new format. Ultimately, this lets you produce more content on a more frequent basis.

Why should you repurpose content?

Two answers to this question have already been given! It lets you create content more frequently, and it helps you draw in a larger audience. As a consequence, you will grow your blog and make more money. There’ll be more eyes on your content, which helps you make more money from advertisements, and the size of your audience will attract more sponsors.

How will this bring in new viewers? It’s all down to different tastes. Some people like to read a one thousand word blog (like all of you, right now!) while other people prefer to consume content in different formats. By repurposing your content, you produce the same article in numerous forms, catering to all the different tastes out there. It’s a bit like someone opening a chocolate shop and only selling dark chocolate. Sure, they’re gain customers, but not everyone cares for dark chocolate. So, they start selling milk and white chocolate, suddenly catering to more chocolate enthusiasts. Just like that, more customers are in the shop!

Now, we can look at how you should repurpose your content. I’ll leave a few suggestions below, and you can use all of them or pick and choose which ones are most relevant to the content you create.

Infographics

I touched upon these earlier, and infographics are a simple way to transform written content into something more visually appealing. You can easily find an infographic creator online that lets you choose the style you want and helps you put together a great piece of content. The benefit of this is that it makes things easier for people to consume. More specifically, it condenses paragraphs of information into smaller pieces of vital info. Plus, the graphical element is visually pleasing and easy to share. Sometimes, you can use infographics alongside content – for example, at the start of a piece to sum-up what you’re talking about.

Videos/Animations

Next, you can turn your content into a short video. This is really effective at reeling in an audience that much prefers watching to reading. Again, it’s also most useful when you have a large piece of written content. A 3000-word guide will be a mountain for a lot of people to get through. Some still prefer to read it as it’s easy to navigate to different sections, but many will give it a miss. The exact same guide in a video format can last a few minutes. People will save time watching the video, so you draw in a new set of audience members.

You can use live-action videos – like yourself talking about the topic – or animations. I find that animated videos are really popular when you’re explaining things. You can use animated effects to show stats on screen and help the video make more sense. Either way, videos are a brilliant option to think about.

Presentations

This is a bit of a curveball as you don’t see presentations as often as you see the previous two. However, they are still a popular and useful form of content. Quite a lot of online magazines will use slideshows in their blogs, and presentations are highly utilised on LinkedIn. Regardless, you can find a presentation agency to put together an impressive slideshow to post on your blog. It breaks down a piece of content into more bite-size chunks and offers a new perspective on things.

For me, this works really well if you’re educating your audience on a certain topic, or if you’re reviewing a product. The presentation format is a great way to get your key points across.

Podcast

Lastly, you have the audio format to consider. Podcasts are a way for you to basically read your blog post to your audience. You could bring some guests on to discuss the topic, or you could basically read the blog word for word. Again, it brings in a completely new set of audience members. Some people may see a blog post and feel like they don’t have time to read it. But, when it’s in a podcast format, they suddenly have the ability to listen on the move. They can engage with your content while on the bus or walking to work, allowing you to find new audience members.

Remember, the whole point of repurposing content is to take an existing piece and recycle it. So, don’t look at these formats as alternatives to writing blog posts. You’ll still write, but you can introduce these different forms as well. There are two ways to approach content repurposing. Firstly, you can present all the different formats in one go, giving your audience a choice between all of them. Alternatively, you can introduce the different forms later down the line. This is a good option if you’re stuck for content ideas and want to recycle an old piece. Truthfully, either approach works fine, and content repurposing is a valuable tool for all bloggers to use!
