The summer is here, and gardeners everywhere are rejoicing. Finally, it is time to get back outside and do a bit of gardening. Sure, you can do it all year round, but it isn’t as enjoyable. Gardening is a summer hobby (for me anyway) because you need nice weather and plenty of sunshine. While you were on sabbatical, however, you might have let your standards slip. The next time you hit the garden, you might find you don’t have the tools for the job. The reason is unimportant, but the solution is vital. You need to make sure you have a great set of tools to make gardening less high maintenance. For those that need a bit of inspiration, here are the essentials.
Lawn Mower
The key to a good garden is the grass. Of course, you want to plant exotic flowers with vivid colours. But, they are luxury items that you can do without for the time being. To kick your garden into shape, you need to tackle the lawn. It doesn’t matter how many nice plants and flowers you have if the garden looks like a jungle. It needs to be neat and tidy to look the part, and a mower is the best tool. You can use a hand mower if you prefer, yet engine-powered mowers are much better. Keep it in good shape by looking after the engine, not forgetting the tires, the tires for lawn mowers are like an athlete’s trainers. All you have to do is climb aboard and drive around the garden. It will take you less time, and you will expel less energy.
Knee Pads & Gloves
Knee pads might not seem like essential pieces of kit, but it is important to remember that gardening is uncomfortable. You spend a lot of the day on your hands and knees, and it takes its toll. By the end of the day, your knees will be raw and incredibly irritable. Ok, it might not be a problem that you worry about at night. Still, it is one that you can easily avoid with knee pads for work on the garden. The pads will protect your knees from the ground and make sure you can stand at the end of a long day. Gloves are also a good investment. A garden is full of sharp and stinging objects, and gloves will take the brunt of the punishment.
Shears
Once you have your garden how you like it, you can’t forget about it until next summer. As a gardener, you have to maintain it for as long as possible, or hire dose industries lawn maintenance services. You certainly need to do it for the majority of the summer. Otherwise, you won’t be able to enjoy it when the weather is at its best. Thankfully, a good pair of shears makes the maintenance work easier to stomach. Shears are great for cutting back hedges and overgrown shrubs and bushes. Plus, you can even use them to cut the grass without getting out the mower. If you want to get creative, you can shape your garden so that it looks professional. Now is the time to unsheathe the shears.
These are just three examples, but there are many more tools that make gardening easier.
