Spring is a time of renewal, and that applies as much to your home as it does to the birth of lambs or the springing up of tulips. With that in mind, here are a few things you may want to do around the house this spring season.
1. Plant some flowers
If you want your garden to look amazing in the summer, now is the perfect time to get those summer-flowering plants like gladiolus, freesia and oriental lily in the garden. Plant them in the spring and when summer comes along your garden will be bright, bold and fragrant – just perfect for those long lazy, hazy days in the garden.
2. Clean the gutters
Cleaning the gutters of leaves and other debris will help to ensure that your home stays free from leaks or flooding as we go on and those spring showers cause a problem that has been building up for a while to overflow.
3. Check for pests
It’s no one’s favourite job, but sometimes pests will come into the home during the colder months in a bid to keep warm until the spring when they will come out of hiding and hit your home with full force. How do you look for pests? Check for signs of droppings, scratches, damaged wood and…well you get the idea. If you find anything a termite inspection pest control expert, for example, will be able to confirm or deny the issue and help you to solve the problem. The last thing you need is to be overrun with pests this spring, so be sure to check.
4. Deep clean
Spring cleaning has long been a tradition, so if you’re up to the challenge, deep cleaning your home from top to bottom could be a great way to improve your space thighs spring, From moping and washing the floors, to wiping down the walls and getting rid of all your excess clutter, there are so many ways you can deep clean your home, and although you don’t have to do all of them, the more cleaning jobs you get to grips with, the more amazing your home will look at feel at the end of the day. Once it’s done. Keep on top of it and you’ll get rid of dust and pollen more effectively, thus minimising the chance of allergies becoming an issue.
5. Hang birdhouses
It is nesting season, so be sure your feathered friends have somewhere safe to raise their young by hanging birdhouses, leaving out food and other useful items like wool thread, which they can use to keep their new home soft and comfy.
6. Feed the lawn
Cut the grass, feed and seed the lawn where necessary, and ensure that the garden looks its best, If the fence has taken a battering, it may need a fresh coat of paint, and pathways may need to be jet-washed if they’re full of moss. Make the garden lovely and you’ll have many lovely times in it with your family this spring.
