Every new year you as a mom would probably include some resolutions that would help in the betterment of your family. Resolutions are made in order to help you become a better person next year, not only for you but for everyone else as well. Making these resolutions means that you would probably want to enforce some productive or improved habits for the family. But what exactly should you be including in them? Let’s go through some out-of-the-ordinary resolutions that can really be beneficial for everyone.

Keeping a tab on calorie consumption

New data and research show very clearly that you need to balance the number of calories you eat with the amount that you burn. This goes for people of all age groups. Children tend to burn more calories than adults and thus their calorie intake should be higher. Adults on the other hand might not be burning as much and thus they need to control the amount of calorie intake. Do not watch it too intensely, but just remember to keep everything in moderation for yourself. This new year you can vow to train your family on keeping tabs on their calorie consumption and matching that with adequate exercise.

Avoid Ultra Processed Foods

Processed foods can be quite bad for your health. We barely eat fresh food anymore, but rather, we rely on things that contain a lot of preservatives and sodium. Foods like canned food, frozen meals, fast foods, chips, and so on come under ultra-processed foods and it is best to keep them moderate. Artificial sweeteners, preservatives, highly refined oils, salts, and so on are things that are harmful to the body. Studies show that the consumption of such items leads to obesity, diabetes, heart conditions, and other serious complications.

Avoid steroids and antibiotics when you can

Many mothers around the world would not know the negative effects that a simple antiseptic bandage or an antibiotic pill can have on your children’s health. Even conventional dressings for eczema have been known to have an altering effect on our skin. It’s better to switch to natural remedies like manuka honey for your skin conditions, CBD oil for sleep, and other such solutions. Leaning towards natural remedies is something that you need to see very seriously for a healthier future for your family

Avoid screens before sleeping

Sleeping disorders are more common in families than you might imagine. A lot of sleeping disorders arise because of the usage of phones and various kinds of stress caused by them. The use of social media causes overall stress in the mind which is bad for sleep. Even using a phone right before trying to sleep is a huge mistake as it fights sleep induction. Many children find it hard to sleep because they use phones at night in bed. As a mother, it should be your responsibility to help your family avoid such activities.

Meditation

Meditation is now being proven to be a very helpful thing in managing mental health issues. In fact, meditation is now known to have positive effects on mental health. Meditation for an hour or half an hour with the entire family at any time of the day can prove to be the most healthy activity in many ways.

This new year you can start being the perfect mom by looking at things that are usually ignored and laid off by being considered as ‘minor’. The aforementioned activities are now slowly being realized to be quite important for overall health management.
