I’m not sure who this gift list is really for – a 12-year-old girl or the one gifting it, because I don’t know about you but I quite like everything on this list! If you’re a cool Auntie or a fun Uncle, a trendy Grandma, a super Granddad, or any other relative who wants to inject some fun into a child’s life then this is the present list for you. It can be difficult to find the right gift for your pre-teen. I have an almost 12-year-old girl, a 13-year-old boy, and a 7-year-old boy. I’m also an Aunt to multiple nieces and nephews from 1 to 18. I’m always looking for the best presents for them, ones they will actually use and enjoy and possibly we can enjoy them together. The last thing you want is something that will stay in the box, or be played with once and then discarded. Click here for some of the best presents for 12-year-old girls – this is where I drew my inspiration from and included some of my picks here.

The best thing you can do when you’re buying a gift for a child is to get to know them. Even as a mother their tastes change rapidly so you really need to know what they like at the time. The good news about 12-year-old girls is that the majority of them really like shopping, making shopping lists, and adding things to virtual baskets. Get them to make their own wish lists and go crazy, you will get plenty of ideas, and may be surprised at the things they want. I’ve tried to be really helpful with this list and give you some ideas you may not have thought of, but ultimately, you know the child best.

They all love a bit of pampering, even the tomboy ones, my girl is obsessed with pandas at the moment and I know she isn’t the only one because there are pandas on everything in the shops. Who could resist these cute little guys for the bath and it’s so nicely packaged.

Next up is this hair wrap. I’ve tried teaching her my hair wrap technique but the towels seem to be too big or too small for her head so this is perfect for either keeping hair dry in the bath, or relaxing after a bath or shower and keeping wet hair off your back.

Sweets, need I say more, and a bit of a hit with adults too, all our favourite sweets…. maybe get one for them and one for you? Or enjoy them together, put a movie voucher in too and go to the cinema together.

A name necklace can be a really special gift indeed. I still have the one I got from my Granny when I was little. They are in fashion and is something that can be kept for a long time, they will always think of you.

They’ll be getting into their music at this age and developing their own tastes and styles. How about this funky speaker that’s also light with water dancing. I wish they had these when I was younger. I am showing my age here, but I had a pink cassette player and radio which I thought was the coolest thing ever. They’re so lucky to have an entire music library at their fingertips.

Mug cakes are an easy way of satisfying the baking urge and you don’t need to make full on cakes or cupcakes, again offer to make them together, maybe gift the book with some ingredients and a promise to have some time together making them and having a pamper session or a box set session.

How about some new bedding or cushions? They have always proved popular gifts in the past for me, and my daughter has them on her list. This is her favourite set at the moment, but there are so many to choose from.

There are a few options for you, you could also think about experience days like a spa day, trampoline park, theme park, or any other day out that they would like. Take some photos during the day out and get them printed out into an album keepsake for them.

Have fun with your pre-teen girls and let me know how you get on – do you like my suggestions? Is there anything you would add?
