How To Overcome Daily Headaches

Sharing is caring!

For many people, headaches are a daily reality and a part of their life. They may wake up in the morning feeling good, but by lunchtime, their head feels like it is throbbing, making it hard to concentrate on anything.

Daily headaches can be a sign of serious disease. But they may also be a reflection of the wrong lifestyle choices.

In this post, we take a look at some of the most effective ways to reduce headaches and find peace again. Here’s what to do:

Reduce Your Caffeine Intake

While caffeine might seem like a great way to perk you up when you have a headache, it can actually make it worse. Caffeine is a stimulant that gives you a buzz, making you feel more alert but fails to address the underlying cause of most headaches, which is tension.

Keep A Cold Pack Handy

Having a cold pack nearby when headaches strike can be extremely helpful. Placing a compress on your head where it hurts can reduce inflammation and pressure, leading to relief from symptoms. Usually, cold packs take around 15 minutes to work. If you notice a change, wait 15 minutes and then reapply the cold compress. If there is no difference, try a different approach.

Reduce Pressure On Your Scalp

Scalp pressure is a common but relatively unknown cause of headaches. Tight hats, caps, and ponytails can all put pressure on the top of the head, leading to tension headaches. Also, be wary of goggles, headbands and any other accessory that restricts the blood supply around the skull.

Take On More Water

Dehydration is another leading cause of headaches. Furthermore, it can make headaches caused by other factors even worse. Try drinking a large glass of water and see if you feel any better after 30 minutes. If necessary, take sumatriptan alongside to ease the pain.

Do Something Relaxing

As modern humans, we have to endure enormous stress. In the past, we could make our own way in nature. But now we have to live in cities and manage all the complexities of life.

That’s why it is such a good idea to make your weekends relaxing. Learning how to switch your body from stress mode to chill mode can help alleviate many headaches, particularly if you only get them while at work.

Try Massaging Yourself

Massage is a powerful technique that lets you take control of the pain you are experiencing. Just a few minutes of massaging the temples can dramatically ease tension headaches.

Place your first and second fingers at your temple and then rotate them in gentle circles. Over time, this process will cause the surrounding muscles to relax. When they do, the tension causing the headache will disappear and pain will reduce.

Drink Ginger Tea

Lastly, you might want to take some ginger tea. It contains various plant compounds that fight headaches and lower symptoms over time.

If you don’t want to drink tea, you can eat dried ginger powder by mixing it into yoghurt or include fresh ginger in a smoothie.
