Gift Guide for 8-Year-Old Boys

Seeing as my boy’s gift guides are always popular (click for my gift guide for 6 year old boys and gift guide for 9 year old boys) I thought I would do a guide for gifts for 8-year-old boys, as Daniel has now turned 8. He wanted a particular Playstation game, Nerf legends, and he wanted Geomag like his cousin has and he enjoyed playing with. I also got him a Minecraft block that you had to use a little pick axe to get into and reveal the toy inside. He enjoyed the activity but he hasn’t really played with the toy since.

Always start with asking or getting to know the child you’re buying for, and chatting with the parents if you can (if you aren’t the parent!) to avoid any disappointments or duplications. There’s no point getting them some dinosaur-themed gifts when what they really want are pokemon cards sets. At 8 they are probably starting to enjoy reading by themselves and chapter book series are always good, especially things like Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Harry Potter, they are always popular.

Are you still stuck for ideas? Here are some general ideas and inspiration for your 8-year-old boy:

  1. LEGO sets – Building with LEGO bricks is a great way to encourage creativity and problem-solving skills.
  2. Art supplies – Kids love to create, so consider getting them some art supplies like colored pencils, markers, and paper.
  3. Science kits – Science kits can be a fun way for kids to learn and explore the world around them.
  4. Board games – Board games are a great way to promote social skills and problem-solving skills while having fun with friends and family.
  5. Books – Reading is a great way to expand knowledge and imagination. Consider getting the child some age-appropriate books that they would enjoy.
  6. Outdoor toys – Get them a children’s scooter, a frisbee or a ball, or even a pogo stick to encourage outdoor activity and play.
  7. Puzzles – Puzzles can be a fun way to challenge the mind and improve problem-solving skills.
  8. Musical instrument – Consider getting them a small keyboard, guitar, or ukulele to introduce them to music and allow them to explore their creativity.
  9. Remote control car – Remote control cars are great for kids who enjoy playing with vehicles and love to explore and race them.
  10. Video games – If the child enjoys video games, consider getting them an age-appropriate game that they would enjoy.

I hope that gives you some ideas for your little boy to enjoy. Daniel had a nerf party at a village hall which was complete mayhem! Lots of children firing foam bullets at each other and lots of sugar to consume. I needed a lie down in a dark room after that, I can tell you. He got lots of nerf guns, stem kits, and lego kits given to him at his party, along with a Minecraft toy, some Minecraft books like annuals, and a Minecraft instruction book which he liked. If you get lots of balloons you can’t go wrong.
