Perfect Holiday Ideas and Tips For Introverts

Sharing is caring!

As someone who doesn’t like large crowds, lots of noise and extra stimulation, finding a holiday that’s right can be a challenge. Yes, I know I could simply stay home and be happy with my TV shows, books and snacks but they’re more fun in a new environment with views. Despite being a massive homebody, I crave adventure and travel and love going on holiday. There’s the excitement of planning and packing, buying new clothes and accessories and the journey itself. I love the changing landscape as you travel and flying on a plane is amazing.

Hire your own space

Whether it’s an entire cottage, holiday home, or a shepherds hut, having your own space rather than a hotel or B&B means no dealing with reception and other guests. I love doing this option and you usually don’t even have to meet the owner, with many having a key safe and email contacts so you don’t have to talk on the phone. Perfect.

Think about the country you visit

Cities aren’t necessarily out of the picture, it just depends where you go. Avoid really touristy places or simply go off-peak when fewer people are around. My favourite countries to visit for the wide open spaces are Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Nepal and parts of America. I’ve become a pro at finding the best Canada holidays. Finland is said to be a country of introverts, and they have such beautiful scenery.

Stay in your home country

Your home country will have plenty to offer and it’s budget-friendly too. You will still be in your comfort zone of the same culture and language, but explore those hidden gems you’ve never been too. In England, I would like to explore the beautiful lake district national park and hire bikes, go horse riding and hiking to my hearts content, all topped off with pub lunches and afternoon teas.

Plan your trip to include recovery time

I like to book my annual leave or plan my holiday so that we have a week or so after the holiday with no big commitments and if possible no work to do so that I can rest and recharge. It can be true what they say that you need a holiday to recover from the holiday. Us introverts need time to recharge our social battery and to reclaim home comforts.

Learn to say no

Whether you’re in a group, with your family or solo travelling, it can be tempting to say yes to everything. I’ve long stopped doing things just to please others, but I get over-excited when I’m away and want to do everything. I pretty much always have a burnout day where I just need to rest and relax. So learn the art of slowing down and saying no to everything, you will have a much better time overall. No two people will have the same experiences in the same place, and you can always go back.
