The short answer is yes! I’ll be going into it in more detail in this post. At the beginning of the covid-19 pandemic, we were told that for a hand sanitiser to be effective at killing coronavirus that it had to be 70% alcohol minimum, but it’s not actually true. The trouble with these high alcohol content sanitisers is they are not kind to hands, especially our children’s. I work as a nurse so I have to use hand gel and a lot of handwashing, I end up with dry, eczema patches on my hands.
Our children have been washing their hands more than they ever have before and using hand gel like it’s going out of fashion, especially when we go shopping. If you’re looking for something that’s kinder to hands and is alcohol free yet still kills 99.9% of viruses and bacteria, there is now steril-eeze spray to try.
We’ve been using it at home and out and about for us and the children, and it’s much nicer. It doesn’t dehydrate the skin or sting the hands (even if you have a paper cut!) and it smells a lot nicer too. It’s a spray rather than a gel which makes it suitable as a hand sanitiser and a surface spray, perfect for toilet handles, door handles, taps etc. I really like the fact it drys quickly and there’s no sticky residue.

How does it work without alcohol?
Steril-eeze contains a substance called Hypochlorous acid, which sounds scary, but it really isn’t.
