What is Earth Day?
Earth day falls on the 22nd April and is all about raising awareness for the environmental protection of our planet and how we as humans can get inspired to act on positive and long term change. It’s also about appreciating the beauty of nature our planet provides. It was first celebrated in 1970 and now 193 countries celebrate Earth day every year.
Celebrating Earth Day as a Family
There are lots of ways to inspire the children to appreciate nature and their environment, children love the outdoors naturally anyway, but having a specific day can help focus your activities and it’s a chance to teach them to be mindful about Earth’s resources. Busy Bees nursery in Brighton have created this infographic which has the bullet points of Earth day and highlights some of the ways to celebrate together. I may have to delay it a day, as we have a birthday party, a slumber party, my husband needs to pack for his week away and the kids all need haircuts.. Earth day may be a day late for us but we’ll do something together to celebrate. Here’s the infographic, make sure you pin it if you’re on Pinterest as it’s sure to come in handy.
