My Dream Bathroom Makeover #TileMountainFacelift

My bathroom needs a makeover! #TileMountainFacelift

Three years ago we moved house, and it needed a lot of work.  We’ve done some of it, but there’s still loads to do (see my house to do list), one room in particular that I could use a little help with, is the bathroom.  Tile Mountain are running a blog competition to win all you need to tile your bathroom (or Kitchen, it was a hard choice to decide), this post is my entry (shares appreciated but not required :))  At first glance, you might think – oh, the tiles are lovely, original 30’s tiles!

Well, they are lovely, and there’s nothing wrong with the design, but on closer inspection, the cracks (literally) begin to show, and no amount of repairing will fix them.  There’s no alternative but to completely re-decorate.  Funds are stopping us at the moment, so to win the tiles, that would give us an amazing head start!

I swear I’ve cleaned them!  No matter how much I scrub they always look a bit tired.  The walls aren’t much better, they need re-plastering. At the moment, we have a separate bathroom and toilet which we want to change and knock through, opening up the space and making more room, maybe a double sink?  The ceiling has those rather nice polystyrene tiles and coving which needs to go ASAP!

I needed inspiration, so I headed to Pinterest (where else) where I’ve created a bathroom makeover mood board:

Follow Midwife and Life UK Parenting Blog’s board Bathroom Makeover on Pinterest.

My favourite picture from the bathroom makeover mood board

This is my favourite picture from the mood board, I can really see myself relaxing in this bath tub, with a few of the glamorous accessories and minus the baby toys that are usually there!

My three favourite bathroom tile ranges from Tile Mountain

My three absolute favourites from the Tile Mountain range were hard to narrow down, but having to choose just three helped focus me in deciding the style we want.  They are: The Wave range, The Capuccino Marble tile rangeand The Doblo Porcelain range, they are all the larger tiles we like the style of and would work well at creating the illusion of space in a smaller room.  The darker tiles we would pair with white ones for a stark contrast and design statement, adding monochrome accessories to complete the look.  The capuccino marble tiles encapsulate our desire for that luxury ‘hotel look’ that we aspire to create and the shine would make the light from the window bounce off them.  I’d add touches of nature with plants, stones and shells, but try to keep it as minimalist as is possible with three children!  It would be a difficult choice to decide between them, if I win the competition, I’ll be asking you all for your help!

Thank you for reading this, what’s your inspiration for the bathroom?  Good luck to all those entering!
