Now that Mr L is working primarily from home, he has his own office area at home. Our extension is finished and the office is on the landing next to the window in it’s own dedicated space. He found it so stressful trying to work from home whilst the building work was going on, kids were under our feet and dust everywhere. Once he had his own area it made such a difference. Where and how you work has such an effect on your physical and mental wellbeing and your productivity.
It’s recommended you take a break every hour for 10 minutes if you work with screens. We were asked to review the sit stand desk from Flexispot, and we thought it would work really well in the space. I also thought it would be good to have that flexibility of how you work, if you wanted a break from sitting or you wanted to adjust your seating, the height can be adjusted to suit. It also has a way to store your favourite settings which is great for us as we share the workspace and there’s nothing worse than constantly adjusting it back and forth. We can do this easily with one press of a button. We did have a small argument about who was going to be number one though 😁.
Putting the desk together was really easy, it’s not a flatpack by any means. All we had to do was put the legs on which was simple to do with an alan key and a couple of screws. I needed help because the top part is heavy, so I would advise two people for assembly. Then you just plug it in and it’s good to go. We went for black, but it also comes in white and white with a wood effect top.
Here it is in our space, this used to be William’s box room, now it’s an open landing. It’s lovely working by the window and being a nosy neighbour.
There’s a handy draw in the middle to store your bits and bobs, which we try and keep to a minimum. If you have a laptop you could easily stow it away in the drawer.
Here you can see the preset buttons together with 2 USB ports and an extra charging port. It’s super handy for charging devices. The up down buttons are to adjust the desk height, then when you find your perfect height, just hold down a number to store it like you do on a car radio. You can still then adjust it as needed. It has a glass top which needs regular dusting.
