Getting Beach Confident

Confidence can be tricky; sometimes, you think you’ve got it nailed, and then out of nowhere, you can have a bit of a moment.

As soon as we head into late spring and the warmer weather starts to grace us with its arrival, many people begin to feel that confidence wane.

Societal pressure tells us that we need to look and dress a certain way in the summertime, which can feel pretty heavy!

All you really need in terms of a beach body is a beach and a body. But that is easier said than done for some of us, so getting a little confidence is the key to wearing your most beloved Australian designed swimwear and having the best summer ever.

Here are a few little tips for getting a little confidence boost.

No rush

Self-esteem and confidence aren’t something that can be rushed, so it is vital to give yourself time to get into it. Gone are the days when you needed to stand in the store and pull multiple options off the rack; instead, you can now order a few that you like and try them on at home.

See if you like the straps, the fit and the feel. You can check for support in the places that you need it most.

And most importantly, how it makes you feel.

Take your time to find the bikini or swimsuit that makes you feel great.

Layers

You don’t need to show more skin than you are comfortable with during the summer months, but it is essential that you aren’t overheating either. Two areas where many people try to cover are the tops of the arms, tum and thighs.

Rather than sticking to oversized thicker materials and t-shirts, there are beautiful ultra-light beach cover-ups that can keep you cool and are easy to put on or take off – whatever you feel like!

Layers don’t need to feel like layers either; buying matching beachwear can make you feel like you’re more put together and add a lot to the outfit.

Bold Accessories

As soon as the summer comes rushing in, bright colours come out to play – and there is a lot of confidence and joy to be found in wearing bright lipstick or some colour hoop earrings.

Let your summertime joy run free and experiment with colours and textures. Not every one that heads to the beach wants to go rushing into the water, and if you are there to read and soak up some Vitamin D, then do it in style.

Preparation

Just like our homes get a good scrub and a clean up in the spring, it can be a lot of fun to give yourself the same treatment.

We are often covered up in cosy tights, nice knits, and plenty of layers during the winter. A great way to prep your skin ahead of heading to the beach is by giving yourself a good scrub with some body scrub.

Massage your skin as you do it, and you’ll be left with soft, clean and glowing skin.

It is also a great idea to add a little extra moisturiser to your skin around this time too. Many people feel their best when their fingers and toenails match and their hair is done. How about treating your lashes with some lash serum at the same time?

If you know there are little preparations that can make you feel great – try to fit them in before you go beachside.

Summer Skin

We should be wearing SPF daily anyway, but most people don’t start until they see the sun in the sky. Exotic holidays, or even just quick trips to the nearest beach, can dehydrate us pretty quickly, and if we are in and out of the sea – the salty water will have an impact too.

Before you head to your vacation location, spend some time making sure that you are hydrated – and take the right SPF too!

If you are very fair and make sure you have the right SPF, it is a great idea to take a parasol with you to the beach. Or, if you are at a beachside cafe, aim to sit under an umbrella.

This will stop you from getting burned and ruining how much you can enjoy yourself.

Insta-Inspo

There are so many amazing influencers on Instagram that talk about confidence and body positivity or body neutrality. Take some time to find the ones that make you nod your head in agreement and inspire you to love yourself a little bit more.

Once you are there, you might just find that you are so busy having fun that you don’t give your bum a second thought! Here are some great activities to keep your little ones busy on the beach: 11 Beach Activities For Babies and Toddlers – Midwife and Life
