I’ve always been a bit scared of hair extensions, they can look really unnatural; they either seem to be those burnt in ones that look like rats tails and you can’t brush your hair properly, woven in ones which are hideously expensive, or clip in ones which I can never get to sit right – turns out I wasn’t using them properly! I’ve been educated now and I’ve seen the light. Being a busy mum I sometimes think there are some beauty aids that I’ll just have to wait to use, but with the help of Irresistible Me hair extensions I’m totally converted. They’re a US company and they ship worldwide. They use FedEx for their shipments, and the package arrived within a week of the dispatch date. If you’re ordering from outside the US, I’d suggest leaving plenty of time before you need them just in case. But when they arrive it’s so worth it!
The packaging is gorgeous, I really felt like I was getting something special, a treat just for me, no-one else. Once I peeked inside the box, it just got better!
The packet containing the hair extensions is secure, it comes sealed with labels, with a separate pouch containing a small sample so that you can open this first and double check the colour against your hair. This is very important if you want a natural look. I went for ‘Golden Blonde,’ and the colour match is amazing with my hair – I am naturally a mousey colour and I have golden blonde and bleach foil highlights normally (every once in a while at the hairdressers).
So, I double checked the colour and opened up the main packet. I was amazed at the amount of hair you get! There is a main section, and then graduating to smaller sections so you can choose the type of look you want.
The hair is really natural looking and silky soft. You can brush it before putting it in and then style along with your hair. I decided to ask my hairdresser Danielle from Westlake Hair to help me put them in so I didn’t make a mess of things! I had a friend’s twin baby’s first birthday party to go to so I seized my chance (I get invited to lots of glam events 😉 )
Here’s me before the extensions went in, as I was going to be running around with the children at a party, I went for an updo style, Danielle said the hair was good quality and the clips were strong. She used hair straighteners to add the curls for me.
It looked great, everyone at the party commented on my hair, I was able to nonchalantly reply that it was just something I threw together! (I did admit they were extensions :)). Danielle is a talented and friendly mobile hairdresser and she covers the South East of England, she does bridal hair, cuts and colours, curly blowdrys and more. Find her on Facebook.
A lovely picture of me with my son – the best I could get out of him! Once I knew the basics of how to fit them, I loved experimenting myself and found them really easy to pop in, I even put them in and went to my mum and baby group, my friends said I looked really well (they couldn’t put their finger on the difference), when I told them I had extensions in, they thought I’d had them done at a salon and couldn’t tell the difference between my natural hair and the extensions. There are tutorials on the Irresistible Me website too, I will put one in here too when I can.
Styling it up for playgroup! At the moment, the extensions are priced at $79 (approximately £55), but they have 20% off when you order through their website, making them $63 (approx. £45). I’m waiting for my invitation to a chi-chi event, but I’m so happy with the way they look, they give me some much needed volume, they’re comfortable to wear and look really natural. They’re made from 100% human hair.
Have you tried hair extensions? What was your experience?
Disclosure: I received the hair extensions for free in return for my open and honest review.
