I’ve been following my friend Lynsey Queen of Clean for a while on Instagram, she’s inspired me to clean more and made it fun. Now there’s also Mrs Hinch of course. I love her down to earth style and the way she does a bit at a time. I also really want my own Henry dog! I’ve got her to thank for narrowing down my dog choices. Just got to get the husband on board now…
Back to cleaning, and although I don’t think I’ll ever win prizes for a pristine home, I’m enjoying cleaning a lot more. Since we had our bathroom renovated, it’s a pleasure to keep it clean, I’m especially proud of my white shiny toilet. I don’t get out much, self inflicted, I use the children as an excuse. I often get asked how I manage everything with two jobs and three children, the truth is you can’t always manage everything, but here’s a few lazy girl cleaning hacks I’ve found help me out:
- Cleaning wipes (or baby wipes) are your friend. Wilko has a vast range for 50p a pack
- Bicarb and white vinegar spray are a great cupboard staple
- Use the time whilst you’re waiting for the kettle to boil to unload/load the dishwasher
- Scoop clothes up in a power 10 minutes and separate into dirty and clean piles
- Train the children to put their own clothes away
- Zoflora – find a fragrance you like, pop it in the loo brush holder, the bottom of the bin, the washing machine, in a spray bottle with water. So many uses and it makes the house smell great
- Ace whites for your white wash, it literally is ace. I can’t believe I’ve only just discovered it, my whites are no longer grey
- Have a power hour or half hour, whatever you can fit in and do what you can. Don’t make yourself feel bad for what you can’t manage
- Share the load – don’t just assume no-one else will do it
- Outsource. We have an ironing service every fortnight, it’s worth the money ten times over, plus the clothes come back on hangers so they get put away at the same time
