It’s that time of year when we start thinking about buying gifts for our nearest and dearest to show them how much we love them during the holiday season.
Gift-giving can be a hard process, especially when you want to give the people you love a gift that has real thought and meaning behind it, which is exactly what most of us want to do.
With that in mind, I’ve put together s a few tips to help you make your gifts more meaningful, and ensure that they will be greatly received.

If you want to make your gifts more personal, then literally personalizing them can be a good way to go. Taking the time to add an inscription to a piece of jewelry or bottle of wine, for example, enables you to buy something that you know the person will like, while also showing them you have gone the extra mile to make the gift even more personal to them. Just make sure you personalize your gifts in a way that shows you truly do know them well.
Think about their hobbies and interests
Buying your friend who loves calligraphy a stunning Japanese fountain pen or your friend who loves football tickets to an important game shows them that you listen to them. You know what their hobbies and interests are and you have taken the time to pick out something related to those hobbies and interests that you know they will love. Are they into Star Wars and science? Then head to the Geek shop for some geeky T-shirts. Maybe they love slogan tees from the y2k genre, so you may think about a y2k shop where they sell y2k baby tees. This is a great way to show them how much you care, while also making it pretty simple to find a gift they are sure to love.
Tap into your memories
Another good way of making your gifts more meaningful is by thinking about the memories you and the giftee share and choosing something based on those. Of course, it’s not all about the old times; you still have many years to make lots of new memories with the people you love the most, so why not start now? Buy a hot air balloon ride experience for your spouse so you can have a romantic time together, book a room in a restaurant so all of your friends can get together over the holidays, buy a theater ticket to a show so you and your best friend can have some quality time together n these will be the best gifts of all.
Make them a hamper
If you want to really impress your friends and family with a thoughtful gift, then buy a large gift basket and make them a hamper of lots of little treats you know they love. Fill it with everything from their favorite snacks and beauty products to books you know they’ll love, movies you know they will want to see ad even things like vouchers they can cash in from you, so you will walk their dog for an hour or give them a foot rub, for example. They’ll love it, and you’ll have so much fun putting it together too.
Make it yourself
Knit them a sweater because you know they spend a lot of time outdoors, craft them a unique wine glass because you know they like to unwind with a glass of red, or do anything that pours your time and love into an object you know they will love and it will be so much more meaningful than a generic store-bought gift.
Donate to a charity
If you know they really love helping out the local animal shelter or homeless charity, then making a donation in their name will have bags of meaning and they will love it.
