It was Daniel’s 5th birthday at the end of December, which is always a challenge coming together with Christmas! We always make sure we spend the same amount on each child at Christmas, and then once that’s done, I do a separate shop for his birthday. We usually have a little party too and then later in the year take him on an outing.
When choosing toys I know I can trust Melissa & Doug toys to be made from eco-friendly materials, to be educational and long lasting. We’ve actually had one of the toys before, the doorbell house when my eldest was younger and it was such a hit we got it again. I’m sure the original lasted well, but at the time we didn’t think we’d have any more children and I’m always decluttering. We also chose the hopscotch mat game because he loves playing it at school and it can double up as a marble mat.
The doorbell house comes with keys, four different doors with their own unique doorbell sounds and four little wooden dolls that can go into each door, or club together in one. You will need two AAA batteries to make the doorbells work which are not supplied. The keys are attached to the house by the carry handle, so you won’t lose them. Each are different, they all have a number on which corresponds to the doors. Endless play options!
The hopscotch mat is a roll out carpet that comes with two coloured beanbags for different ways to play. It comes with game play instructions. Daniel and Phoebe have enjoyed playing on it and it rolls away easily for storage.
