Mothers go through nine months of aches, pains, ravings and hormones to get to the miracle of birth. Once she goes through that, she feels battered and bruised and is expected to raise a whole new life she doesn’t yet know. It’s scary to be a Mother, and not enough people talk about how much of a warrior she is to have put her body through this.
A Mum really does earn the pampering she gets when the baby is born, and if your sister or best friend has just gone through childbirth, then a push present is the best thing that you could do all round. Let’s not forget that growing and carrying a baby is very hard work. When your best friend finally gets through the delivery, she deserves to be utterly showered with gifts.
Recognising the monumental sacrifice her body has made and the step she has taken to move from a woman into being a mother is a big deal. So that we don’t trip over the semantics, it’s important that no matter how she has given birth, she gets a push present. She’s still gone through the hard work of having a baby, and it can be fun to choose a new gift for a new mother to enjoy.
So, with that in mind, we’ve put together some of the most thoughtful gifts that you could get for your bestie and wow her in those early days.
A beautiful, delicate necklace to show off her newfound Mother title is one of the prettiest and nicest gifts that you could give your best friend. The interlocking circles are indicative of the unbreakable bond that she has with her new baby. You can get these in so many different colours and styles, and you can even get them personalised after she has named the new baby!
- Newborn Art
This one will have to wait until you can meet her new baby, but footprint and handprint art kits are all the rage right now. There is nothing more precious to a new mother than making memories. The first few weeks of motherhood are often fraught with worry and fear, sleepless nights and uncertainty. With these kits, she can make a custom piece of artwork and frame it for the nursery. In the years to come, she will be able to see those tiny prints and remember the early days with a smile rather than a frown.
- Birthstone Rings
Most women (and some men) love birthstone jewellery. The significance of a stone is something that is often overlooked. However, the birthstone of her baby is going to be precious to her and you can wait until after the baby is born to buy the piece. You could buy it based on the due date, but if that date goes over by the 14 possible days predicted, then you could end up having to buy again. It’s always best to wait and see!
- Metal Prints
Did you know that you can get photos printed onto metal? They’re a modern way to show off some beautiful artwork in the home. It’ll make her smile every single time she passes by it and it can be printed on either flat or curved metal. Metal prints literally stamp her new role somewhere permanent.
- New Puzzles
This may seem like an odd push present, but printing a Custom Made puzzle From Your Own Photos with a picture of her and the new baby can be a fun way to give a keepsake. It steps aside from the traditional gifts while also giving you something to do together while she is feeding the baby! It’s also something to frame later on and display in the house.
- A Whole New Wardrobe
If there is one thing that all mothers will know, it’s the fact that NOTHING seems to fit after a baby is born. Clothes pre-pregnancy are too small, and maternity clothes are far too big. There’s no in-between stage while her body returns to some sense of normality after her labour. So, you could always take your bestie out to buy some new clothes that will fit properly and make her feel good.
- Charm Bracelets
We’re not suggesting Pandora (unless you’re feeling very generous) but a charm bracelet can make a massive impact on a mother. A simple bangle with charms to represent her new little person in her life is something that can be cherished. Be a little different by adding a zodiac charm and a birth flower charm – they’re both pretty symbols and will look amazing on a bangle.
- New Sheets
Hear us out. While Mum won’t be getting much sleep, it doesn’t mean that you can’t contribute to her getting as much shut-eye as possible. With brand new and comfortable sheets, she can get a better sleep and feel far more comfortable during feeding!
- Photo Calendar
There are so many photos taken when a new baby is around, and yet a mother often goes fuzzy about those first days at home. There are dozens of amazing photos that you could put together in a wood calendar and it would look classy on the desk at work or at home!
- Flowers
Not just a bunch or a delivery from the local florist, but a year’s worth of flowers could be the best gift you ever give to remind her that you are here and you are available if she needs you. You could get them delivered every single month and put a smile on her face for the entirety of her first year as a mother. That’s a gift that just doesn’t get old.
- A New Camera
Photos on a smartphone are one thing, but photos are more authentic when you take them with an instant camera. Buying an instant camera means that the baby pics come out of the cloud and live in albums instead.
Giving your best friend a new gift may feel pointless in her newly overwhelmed state. Trust us when we say she will love it and always appreciate your thoughts.
