I’ve started an Instagram community with my blogging bestie Clare from Mumsy Midwife. To join in, it would be great if you could follow both our accounts (not necessary but if you’re featured you’ll see your posts!), mine is @midwifeandlife and Clare’s is @mumsymidwife. The idea is it’s for all your parenting photos, be they styled images, candid shots or just those ‘Aaargh’ parenting moments like when the rice krispies have been tipped everywhere again and you’re functioning on some sort of mad autopilot from lack of sleep. All are welcome, and you don’t have to be a blogger, just tag your photo with #thisparentlife. Already I see regulars joining in and the interaction is great.
I have been so pleased with all the responses and we have nearly 500 posts already. Here is my favourite image from my Instagram #thisparentlife posts, when we found a little newt in the garden, Daniel was fascinated and I got this special moment between father and son (we put him back safely):
And when it’s not going so smoothly, this is when I hadn’t had a good night’s sleep, Daniel had been in our bed and was tossing and turning all night, kicking me and keeping me awake. I put both slippers on one foot and was then wandering around for a full minute or two trying to find the other slipper.
And my favourite from @mumsymidwife is this happy smiley tickly photo that beautifully captures that closeness and fun part of parenting life. Beautiful.
