Three Signs It May Be Time For A New Job

When you’re in your career, sometimes you’ll see giant, flashing, neon signs saying, “Hey, you!” Hey, miserable you! Now is the time to find a new gig.”

You may hate your boss or feel overwhelmed by the responsibilities you have. Perhaps you have consistently not been promoted. You may even be blatantly mistreated.

The fact that you must leave your job is painfully obvious to you.

What about the other times? There are plenty of signs that tell you it’s time to get on the road, and it’s too easy to ignore them. It’s not uncommon for them to go unnoticed altogether and simply be written off as part of being employed.

These six not-so-obvious signs may be pointing you in the direction of a new job.

You’re Never Motivated

Your work is completed. It is a daily struggle, though, as you will also admit. Sitting at your desk and trudging your way through your to-do list feels like an act of superhuman strength. You find that instead of striving to do your best, you always have to do the bare minimum.

It happens to all of us that there are days when it would be nice to do something else. Your job shouldn’t require you to do that every day, however.

Do you always feel unmotivated, lazy, and uninterested? This may be a clear indication that you need to look for something new that will set your heart on fire.

You’ve Been Doing the Same Thing Since You Started

You have been working in your current role for a while. How does your work today compare to your very first day? Not much has changed.

There hasn’t been a challenge to push your boundaries and accept new assignments. No new responsibilities have been given to you. You can’t think of anything that has changed or improved during your tenure.

It is one thing to feel confident and comfortable in your career. But, are you feeling stuck? If so, you have a problem. As soon as you realize that you’re stuck in neutral, either speak with your boss or find a role that enables you to expand your horizons a little more. Your Stress Level’s Are Constantly High

You’re always in knots in the stomach. There are no fingernails on your hands because you chew so much. Even when you’re taking a bathroom break, you can’t help but check your email.

It’s normal to feel stressed at work. Every job has moments or tasks that cause palm sweat or anxious lip chewing. Also, maybe you enjoy and thrive in high-pressure, fast-paced environments. If you are motivated and fulfilled by stress at work, that’s great!

However, if you find that your constant feeling of being on edge is actually dragging you down at work and outside of it, it may be worth exploring some other options in which your stress level won’t need to be as high.

You may want to think seriously about finding a new position if you found yourself nodding along with any (or all!) of these signs. Do you have any others that should be included? Please share some of them in the comments section below.
