Sure, purchasing the latest and greatest Macbook, enjoying the best studio headphones, or purchasing a DSLR camera to use as your ZOOM conference calling video hardware can be luxurious, but not many of us just have the funds to throw at that kind of professionalism.
Upgrading our home office may be necessary, but if we can’t achieve that without the ridiculous expense, it might be worth thinking of a new way forward. Getting there, however, is not always easy. Upgrading your home office without ridiculous expense means figuring out what it is you actually need, and making investments that are sure to last the test of time.
For instance, buying one £150 office chair each year is perhaps less valuable than purchasing an ergonomic, well-structured £800 model that comes with 10 years of warranty and free replacements in the event of damage. Thinking in this way can help us track our value over time, without considering such a plan to be an expense to shrug at.
In this post, we’ll discuss a few cheaper or valuable upgrades you can use to enhance your productivity at home:
A New Base Desk
A new base desk, especially if located from a trusted retailer like Waterfront Warehouse, can be a big deal. With enough cupboards, storage units, placements for your electronic devices like laptops and monitors, and even extra features like electric adjustability for standing; you’re sure to feel connected in one area, and if coupled with a nice, aforementioned chair, hours at your desk working will feel comfortable and as supported as possible. A good desk isn’t overly expensive, especially considering how if cared for right, it can last for years upon years.
Consider The Air Quality
The air quality in your office space is essential to get right. A relatively cheap air purifier (which may cost around £50) can help absorb dust and pollutants through the HEPA filter and catch them as appropriate. Over time, this may help you restore the comfort of the space more readily, breathe easier (especially in a room with limited ventilation), and feel more alert and less lethargic over the course of the day. It’s quite impressive to see what an effect this may have.
Opt For Better Peripherals
It’s healthy to opt for worthwhile peripherals to the degree that you can because these will ultimately dictate how you interface with your computer. Note that our outlandish examples in the description are surely not what you need to go for here. But a cheap mechanical keyboard that saves your fingers from repetitive strain injuries, a mouse that holds its charge over time, and a webcam that looks good on conferencing calls can also make a big difference. On top of that, you may wish for armrests that clip onto the desk, or even something as fun (and important) as a USB coffee warming mat that makes sure your hot cup of joe never gets cold.
With this advice, you’re certain to upgrade your home office without the ridiculous expense that’s often associated with such a thing.
