What To Do While on Maternity Leave

Disclosure: collaborative post

You got your three months (or longer) maternity leave in order to enjoy your newborn baby and get to know them, but now that you’re here, you may have realised they sleep most of the time, and there’s not much to bond over except changing diapers and feeding them. This could be a relatively uneventful time in any new mother’s life, and you may be experiencing a “what do I do now” feeling after getting home with your little one, and they’re just snoozing the entire time. That said, here are some ideas on what you can do while on maternity leave.

Repack Your Wardrobe

So now that your pregnancy is over, it may be time to get all those maternity clothes thrown out or packed away and make room for your regular clothes again! Oh yes, now you can wear your jeans again without feeling like you’re going to pop a button into someone’s eye! Repacking can also give you the opportunity to see what items you need and what you can give away to charity as well, and it will make you feel super good knowing your closet is tidy and tailored to your needs again!

Netflix and Chill

Watch some movies you’ve wanted to see lately but have not had the time for. The Netflix app has lots of great films and TV shows now! Statistics show that more and more people are hooked on Netflix when at home. After doing nothing but prepare for your little bundle the past few months, you deserve to catch up on some good screen time and relax a bit. So be sure to look out for what’s new this week on Netflix – there may be more than a few new movies and series just waiting to blow your mind or get those tears rolling! If you want to get the shows from all around the world, it’s easier than you think – especially with the best vpn for Netflix at your disposal. You can also watch cooking shows and how-to videos to learn some new skills if you’d like – cooking is also a great time passer and is a great hobby that will come in handy many times in the future!

Read a Book

Another great time passer is reading a book you’ve meant to get around to – there are so many great ones in your local library that never make it back on the shelf. You can read them online or offline as well! If you’re already an avid reader, you’ll know how a book can transport you to another world, but who has time for reading with work and responsibilities? Well, you do now, and you have the luxury to read as many books as you want in the next couple of weeks.

Connect

If you’d like, you could join a Facebook group for mothers in your area and ask questions about parenting or baby care that you may not understand how to do on your own (or have any free time). If you’ve figured out a thing or two as well, share that knowledge with other new moms out there! This is also an option if you don’t know anyone else who has kids, and you could maybe connect with a few new moms out there who are going through the same stage in their lives!

The above ideas are but a few of the many things you can do while on maternity leave. But, above all else, enjoy your little bundle of joy to the fullest – this is an amazing time in your life you’ll remember forever!
