Finding the perfect Mothers’ Day gift is always a challenge, especially if you’re not flush with cash at the moment. However old you are, though, there’s always something you can get that will put a smile on your mother’s face that won’t cost much, if anything!

Check out these suggestions for affordable Mothers’ Day gifts, and don’t forget to comment with your own suggestion at the end.

1.) Celebrate her interests

Customized items can be a great way to show your mom you care not just about her, but her hobbies and interests as well. You can order custom embossed wristbands, shirts, canvas prints, and other personalized items that help celebrate her interests, whatever they might be. Silicone wristbands are especially handy, as they don’t have to cost a lot, yet they can last virtually forever — a constant reminder of how much you care.

2.) Get her a magazine subscription

Yes, people still do read magazines! If you have a bit more cash to spend, a year’s subscription to her favorite magazines might just be the ticket to an awesome Mothers’ Day.

3.) Have a flower bouquet customized

These can be a bit expensive at the florist but if you have a nice backyard or live near some wildlands or undeveloped areas, a bouquet of wildflowers that you lovingly picked yourself will be just as appreciated, if not more meaningful.

4.) Do yard work or housework that she’s been putting off

If she’s been putting off having her car’s oil changed, or knick-knacks and doodads mended, take a couple of hours to do these things for her. You can also do the yard work or do the basic maintenance and repairs that she’s been putting off for some time. You might not think it’s much, but chances are it means the world to her if you do these things.

5.) Arrange breakfast in bed

Get up extra early and prepare breakfast in bed for her. Make sure it’s the breakfast staples she likes. If you don’t know how to cook breakfast just the way she likes them, it can’t hurt to do a few practice runs. Don’t forget to take care of the cleaning up yourself too!

6.) Book a quick spa retreat

An afternoon at the local spa, (paid for by you, of course) can be a nice, affordable way to make an otherwise ordinary day extraordinary. Be sure to get the services your mom likes. You can even join her just to hang out and make things extra memorable.

7.) Write her a poem or letter

You don’t have to be Shakespeare to write your mom a poem or letter that tells her just how much you appreciate what she’s done for you. Don’t make the mistake of thinking that this gesture only works when you’re a kid either. Most moms would love to get a letter from their adult children as well! Say it perfectly in a mother’s day card that may be a little different from the rest, something unique for her. By writing your own thoughts inside the perfect card she will remember it forever. Or why not put your special sayings and quotes together in a quotebook for a truly special keepsake.

8.) Take her on a quick day trip

A quick trip to the park, a museum, an art gallery, or a place she is interested in can be a good way to mark this special day. Try to think of places that she likes and try to avoid the ones that will be crowded on Mothers’ Day. That way, it will be just a little bit more special for you.

9.) Get her gift certificates

If your mom has a favorite shop, getting her coupons and gift cards from there is a no brainer, especially she’s the type who prefers to shop for things herself.

10.) Get her really good coffee, wine, or tea

These aren’t necessarily the cheapest gifts, but they’re not exactly unobtainable either. Make sure that you’re sure about her preferences though, as there can be a world of difference when it comes to these daily staples. Something that’s somewhat nicer than what she usually gets can be a great way to show her that you not only appreciate what she’s done for you but that you see her as a person with their own unique qualities.

11.) Make her something unique

If you’re a crafty sort of person, making your mom something useful with your own hands might be one of the best Mothers’ Day gifts she can get that won’t put a dent in your bank account. Are you good at baking? Bake some of her favourite biscuits and put them in a nice tin she can keep. Whether it’s a spice rack, a scarf, or anything else, something you made yourself is something she’ll appreciate.

12.) Bath and beauty baskets

These are a bit cliche but they’ve become that for a very good reason. Most people, regardless of whether they’re your mom or not, appreciate these little bundles of hygiene and pampering, regardless of whether they admit it Make sure to focus on items you’re sure your mom use and she might even ask you where she could buy them herself.

13.) Let her sleep!

Letting your mom sleep in is perhaps one of the best possible things you can do. Handle all the morning chores before she gets up and let her get a couple more hours in bed by herself. To let her sleep better, you may also want to give your mom a set of the most comfortable pyjamas. These lovely pyjamas are made from the softest eco-friendly bamboo viscose. Bamboo fabric is naturally thermoregulating, so they’re perfect to wear all year round. It’s also hypoallergenic and may even have antibacterial, a huge plus for moms with sensitive skin. Your mom is sure to get a good night’s rest in these super snuggly pyjamas.
