When you’re a small business, knowing how to keep your customers happy and engaged is absolutely crucial. There’s so much competition out there that you really can’t mess around when it comes to treating your customers the way they expect to be treated. Not only that, once somebody has purchased from you it’s easier to keep them as regular customers than it is to go out and find customers that have never purchased from you before. With that in mind, here’s 6 ways to keep your customers happy and engaged as a small business:
- Focus On Making Them Lifetime Customers from The Start
Start by focusing on making your customers lifetime customers right from the beginning. This happens before they even buy from you – is your website easy to navigate? Do you have a solid brand and have you made your values clear? Do you provide endless value? Do you communicate clearly? Make sure you have everything set and ready to go.
- Make It Easy To Buy From You
Of course, you should make it as easy as can be to buy from you. This means providing multiple ways to buy, whether online with pay later or in person with this card swiper. It also means ensuring your buying and ordering process is simple and effective and that your site is easy to use. You shouldn’t give them too many hoops to jump through when they want to buy. Often, letting them buy as a guest can be an attractive option rather than making them fill in their details.
- Be Seen
You need to be seen if you’re going to make people remember you and keep them engaged. This could mean creating an app to provide information and make ordering easier. It can also mean a better social media strategy to ensure you’re showing up at the right times in the right places each day.
- Create Valuable Content
Valuable content can make the difference between somebody deciding to purchase and leaving your site with nothing. It can also help to establish your business as an expert. Don’t be afraid of sharing your knowledge, even though you may worry that people will decide not to work with you if you give it all away. They won’t – they will simply know that you know what you’re talking about. They’ll be more likely to come back when they have a problem or question, too.
- Value Your Customer’s Point of View
Listen to the customer and their point of view. If they have feedback, take it on board. Ask for it if they don’t offer it. This can help you to grow and show them that you care about what they think.
- Add Personal Touches
Finally, personal touches can make a big difference as a small business. Send a thank you email or a handwritten thank you note. Send birthday and Christmas cards. Provide a discount or loyalty card. Aim to build strong relationships with the people who purchase from you!
