What is the most precious resource available to humanity? Is it gold? Is it money? Is it technology?
When you dig down to the roots of our existence, you find that it’s love. You can spend time with the most materially impoverished families in the world and still find joy, laughter, and compassion. And you can spend time with the richest families and find the precise opposite.
Love is also an interesting resource. There are no limits on its production. It’s what we choose to make of it. You can give it freely as much as you like.
Despite this, it’s also in short supply. Most people would agree that we need more love in the world. The more we have, the better our existence will be. It’s central to our lives.
So how can you start spreading love right now? What can you do in your life to increase the supply of this precious resource?
Send People Gifts Anonymously
Sending gifts is one of the fundamental love languages that tell people how you feel about them. The receiving of a present lets people know that you care.
Sometimes, though, gift-giving comes with obligations. If a person knows where it comes from, they feel an obligation to reciprocate. And that can make them feel uneasy.
That’s why sending gifts anonymously can be of great help. The person feels cherished because they received a gift. But they don’t know who it came from. And that’s a good thing.
Start Listening More
People don’t want you to solve their problems. They just want you to listen to how they feel. When a person is able to express themselves, they automatically feel loved. They get a sense that they’re genuinely connecting with the other person. And it fills them with joy.
You can start listening more immediately. Listening is actually a lot simpler than many people imagine. It’s not about providing answers or giving advice. It’s just “umming” and “ahhing” in the right way to show that you care. People already know how to solve all their problems. They just want somebody who is willing to take the time to understand their thoughts. That’s the connection they crave most.
Make Valentine’s Day Central To Your Calendar
A lot of people feel lonely on February 14. Not everyone receives Valentine’s day roses from romantic lovers. Some have to make do with a TV dinner.
But it doesn’t have to be that way. There are all sorts of ways that you can use events like Valentine’s day to spread love and make people feel cherished.
Remember, romantic love is just one variety of love – and quite a strange one at that. Ultimately, the vast majority of people are just looking for a connection with somebody else. They want that feeling of completeness and wholeness. And you can give it to them by calling them, doing something nice for them, or just listening to their problems or concerns. Some people just want an opportunity to have fun.
