Exploring Creative Ways To Keep Your Baby Entertained

This is a guest post

Babies are just like anyone else, they enjoy entertainment, from quite an early age. While many parents think rocking their baby is enough they are sadly mistaken because babies desire so much more. Whether you are a first-time mother or already have several children, you will need to get creative when it comes to entertaining your children. Of course, if you work a full-time job, you will be time limited, but this should not prevent you from entertaining your children whenever possible, and it can be an amazing bonding experience for you both. Below, you will discover several creative ways to keep your baby entertained.

Make Silly Faces

Babies are very visual, exploring their new world every chance they get. You do not have to be a genius to entertain a baby. In fact, all you need to be able to do is make some silly faces. Believe it or not, you can keep your baby entertained for hours, just by making silly faces. Be sure to stick out your tongue, twist your head, mess up your hair and have fun. As baby gets older s/he will imitate you. Babies respond to faces and face shapes by natural design. Your child will laugh and have the best time of his or her life if you spend time making your face entertaining. Always make silly faces when singing songs like  Mary Had A Little Lamb with your precious offspring.

Crib Mobiles

Parents are always extremely busy, trying to clean their home, preparing meals, paying bills and doing laundry. Of course, you are going to want to keep your baby entertained, but in this case, your time will be a little limited. For those moments, when you hands are tied up in chores, you could take advantage of a crib mobile. The mobile should be equipped with a variety of toys that are colorful and unique. When you are ready to tackle your to-do list, just flip on the mobile and watch your child’s face light up. Some mobiles will play music, such as Christmas songs for kids, which will only enhance the fun.

Noisemakers

While babies are visual, they also like to hear unique and funny noises. You can buy noisemakers at just about any baby retail store or online quite cheaply, but if you really want to get creative, you can make your own. Just grab an old drinks bottle, peel off the label and fill it with beans, dried rice or hard kernel popcorn. Shake the bottle and watch the baby’s face light up. Be sure to choose something that your child can grasp and shake easily. By including the child in the entertainment, you will both will be able to enjoy every second of it.

Shakers and rattles work the best because they are designed specifically for children. So, when you are busy babies can grasp the toy in their hand and keep themselves entertained.

Reading Books Together

It’s never too early to start reading to babies and young children, they learn quickly how to turn the pages and they enjoy the pictures and rhythm of the stories. Once they start grasping they’ll enjoy pop up books, and to keep the books in good condition go for cloth or board books until they learn to be more gentle. They’ll soon have their favourites and the repetition of a story book helps cement their learning. Implementing story time in your bedtime routine will relax them and help them know what’s coming next to improve their sleep.

Lullabies

Children enjoy listening to lullabies and they don’t care if you can keep a tune or not. While you are rocking your baby you can sing a lullaby, this is also a great way to bond. Change the voice pitch and get silly with the song to enhance the level of fun, or if you’re trying to get them to sleep, keep it low and soothing. You can even choose some of your favorite childhood lullabies, such as Rock-a-bye baby, Brahms lullaby, Twinkle twinkle little star and Hush little baby to name a few, all of which your child will enjoy too. Take a look at these popular lullabies and their lyrics, in case you can’t remember how they go.
