Five Great Ways To Use Your Spare Room

Sharing is caring!

Almost every room of the house has a specific purpose. Your kitchen and lounge serve you as spaces to cook and to relax. The bedroom is your space to sleep. The spare room? Well, that’s completely up to you! Having a spare room in your house is exciting, as you get the chance to choose exactly what you do with the space, and that will give you the chance to be creative.

If you have a spare room that sits empty because you don’t know what to do with it, now’s the time for you to make a decision! You have some prime real estate sitting right there and if it’s not being used, it’s a waste! You can speak to a mortgage broker if you want to gain a spare room by upgrading your house, but choosing what to do with the room is going to be a fun activity regardless. With this in mind, we’ve got five great ways that you can use your spare room!

  1. Add a gym. If you’re sick of rolling out of bed at 6am to head to the gym, why not have your own one? You can fill it with the weights and cardio machines that you want to enjoy. If you wouldn’t use a treadmill, you don’t have to have one in there! Your gym is going to cost money initially, but it’s going to be worth it in the long run. You could also ensure that you have fans installed or an air conditioner in there so that you’re comfortable as you work out.
  2. Building in an office. More and more people are working remotely these days, and that means that you need a space that makes sense for you to work in. Think quiet, calm, equipped and with enough space to fit everything that you need. You have to have a comfortable desk and chair and enough room for all of your files and folders, too.
  3. A nursery. You might be expecting a new baby and if so, they’ll need somewhere to sleep from six months old. A nursery is often a warm, dark place that represents the womb, but is temperate enough that everyone can feel comfortable sleeping in there. The nursery is such a fun room to decorate, too, because you’ll be able to theme it anyway that you like!
  4. A playroom. Have you got toddlers and older kids? If your spare room is located downstairs, why not make this the space in which all of their toys live? A playroom is going to be the best place for all the toy clutter as you can shut the door on it at the end of the day! This can be the sanctuary that your kids have for themselves – and it’s a good idea if you want somewhere to keep all of the clutter.
  5. A guest suite. Lastly, you could use a spare room as a guest suite and have your friends stay somewhere comfortable whenever they crash at yours. You can decorate it and furnish it how you like!
