Foolproof Guide on Planning the Perfect Kids Birthday Party

Planning a kid’s birthday party can be a challenge, especially when you are made to feel like you are in competition with all of the other parents. Of course, you’re not; but every child wants something as cool as what their friends had. It can be daunting and overwhelming, especially as you want everything to go perfectly for your little one. But there really is nothing to worry about; read on for a step-by-step guide on planning a great party for your child.

  1. Choose a theme – The first thing you need to do is decide on the type of party you are going to host. Is there something your child is particularly obsessed with? From princesses and pirates to animals and aliens, there is no end to the different themes you can use for a party. Some themes are well suited to fancy dress parties, either at your home or at a venue you have hired. There are then other themes that are better suited to activities. For example, for an army or combat theme, you could choose to host a paintballing party, such as those found at www.paintballgames.co.uk. Or, maybe you could have an ‘under-the-sea’ theme and host it at your local swimming pool centre?
  2. Check the calendar – Once you have decided on the type of party you want to host; you need to see what dates are available. Of course, if you are booking a venue, you need to make sure it is available. Not only this, but you should avoid dates that conflict with popular events or parties. After all, the last thing you want is for no one to turn up because they have other engagements.
  3. Send invitations – Now you are ready to send invitations. Why not choose invites that fit in with the theme?
  4. Buy decorations – Decorating your home or a venue can be overwhelming, but there really is no need to worry. You can find plenty of great party decorations at supermarkets and specialist party stores. Plus, here are some great suggestions you can do yourself: http://www.marthastewart.com/. All you need are table covers, colourful hats, buntings, banners, and balloons, and you are good to go.
  5. Plan some activities and games – Even if you choose to book an activity for the day, there are going to be points in the day when you need to keep children entertained. A good example of this is once they have finished eating their food and they are waiting for the cake. Because of this, it is a good idea to have some activities and games planned.
  6. Food – This leads onto the next point perfectly; no party would be complete without food. It is easy to buy for kid’s birthday parties. Simply put on a buffet with finger food and sweet treats. Avoid overcomplicating it, as most children are fussy with their food in any case, so anything too unusual will probably go untouched.
  7. Have fun – Last but not least, remember to have fun and do not stress. There will probably be a few things that go wrong on the day, but that is the nature of kids’ parties, so don’t let it trouble you.
