Four Reasons Why Your Business Needs an Updated Software

Sharing is caring!

Software updates are meant to fix bugs, improve performance, and add new features. These updates are often released for free and without any warning. Sometimes software updates can be a good thing for your business. For instance, if you have software with an outdated version that is causing issues for your customers or employees, you might need to update it so that it can continue to function properly. Updated software is always good in case you need a backup for your business.

In order to make sure your business continues running smoothly after an update is released, it’s important that you plan ahead by conducting a risk assessment before the update is released and then implementing the necessary steps after the update has been released. So here are some major benefits of why you want to ensure that the software that you use for your small business stays constantly up to date.

1. Improve Efficiency and Reduce Costs

The software industry is constantly evolving and improving its efficiency. The latest advancements in technology have made it possible for developers to create better apps, websites, and products at a faster pace with less time and cost. This has led to more companies adopting new tools that improve the speed of their work. Bugs and glitches happen from time to time but this isn’t like a video game where it can be okay if it happens.

No, software glitches completely screw up your business and foil your plans. But when an update comes to the rescue, it makes everything better again. Bugs and glitches can be costly, it could cost you money to get IT assistance or it could lose you money as you don’t get to do as much work as you’d like.

2. Keep Your Current Customers Happy

In order to maintain customer satisfaction, it is important that you provide them with what they need and not just what they want. This can be difficult when you have a lot of customers and a lot of products or services that you offer. Here are some tips for making sure that your current customers are satisfied:

– Make sure that your emails are relevant to the customer’s needs and interests

– Provide regular updates on new products/services

– Keep an eye out for any complaints

If you’re using software that can directly affect the customer, then you’ll need to take care of it ASAP. Even if you’re a Microsoft Partner, you’re going to have to take care of getting updates for the software and other tools that you use and what you provide to your clients/ customers. It doesn’t take much to get unhappy customers and it especially doesn’t take much damage to your reputation. Updated software is good software, and it’s software that keeps the team and customer happy.

3. Prevent Future Problems & Issues from Arising

To avoid future problems and issues, you need to install updates as soon as they become available. This is a simple way to save yourself from costly mistakes. There have been many cases where companies have not installed updates for their software and this has caused major problems for them in the long run.

The best example is the Equifax breach that happened in 2017. The company had a patch but didn’t install it because they thought it was too expensive and time-consuming. This resulted in hackers gaining access to all of their sensitive data and stealing the personally identifiable information of 143 million people. By all means, you don’t want to make a mistake like this. Yes, while it can be incredibly aggravating that at times, updates for software can cost money, it’s going to be even more costly to skip it.

4. Convey Trust Through Regular Updates

Presenting a customer with a steady stream of software upgrades can keep them loyal and help you build trust. Basically, the fewer technical issues you have on your end, the fewer issues your customer is going to have. If your customers have little to no issues, this will make them trust your business even more. While some issues here and there can be okay as long as it’s not costly to you or customers, you’re going to want to strive for as few issues as humanly possible.

Fewer issues mean that customers know that you take care of everything instantly. Having fewer issues means that customers know that you provide nothing but the best. It also shows that they trust you enough to continuously use your products or services. Hassle-free is the best way to go and updates can help that.
