I usually just steal a bit of tinsel from the tree and bung it in my hair and bam, festive hair, but now there are so many easy ways to jazz up your hairstyle at Christmas time, why not? Now that I have a daughter, I love playing with her hair, experimenting and of course treating her to glittery sparkly hair accessories (see bottom of post for inspiration). I asked my friends from the parent blogging community what their best Christmas hair tips were. Whether you have fine hair, thick, curly, straight, or are in need of some help from crochet hair, there is something you can do to dress up your hair in style this festive season.

Vikki Evans from Family Travel With Ellie says,’You can’t go wrong with sparkles at Christmas! We love glitter spray – ins at Christmas time!’

Emma Jones from Readyfreddiego says – ‘Super easy…wrap some tinsel round a bobble and add to pig tails, pony tails etc. Instant festive!’

Hollie Gregersen’s tip: ‘Put your hair in a bun using a donut. Add a red Pom Pom to the middle and two bent pipe cleaners in the top for antlers and you have instant reindeer hair. Most important thing is that any hair do on Christmas Day feels neat and secure so you can concentrate on having fun rather than thinking about or fiddling with your hair. Nicole Arsiwala says, ‘Christmas equals parties. Parties means straight sleek hair. But you don’t want to be using a hair straightener every night – that much heat would make your hair look dry, rough and isn’t good for your hair in general. I invested in a hair straightening brush instead and it does the same job but is less harsh. Besides, it heats up in seconds and is therefore quicker to use too.’ See more at talesfrommamaville.com

Becky Goddard-Hill from babybudgeting.co.uk has this to say -‘My Christmas hair tips? Ask Santa for a few fabulous woolly hats as the central heating and cold play havoc with my frizz and a fab hat is a great cover up!’

My tip for little girls hair is to make a ponytail first with a yellow hair band, the add some green thread or ribbon and weave it into a plait. Tie it with a brown hairband at the bottom, add a star at the top and pom poms or tinsel to the plait for a festive Christmas tree plait!
