Hippy Paste Review

First of all what a wonderful name!  People who like natural products aren’t all hippies, but they usually don’t mind being labelled as such.  I think of myself as part hippy, but also a realist and a teensy bit cynical too.  I like to go natural where possible, but if it’s not working for me then I won’t do it.  I am wary these days of potential nasties in our everyday products, when I looked into potential cancer causing chemicals for Breast Cancer UK it did make me think about how much we use in out everyday life.  I’ve been using the Ecoegg for my washing most of the time plus a couple of their other cleaning products too so I’ve become a partial eco-warrior!

Enter Hippy Paste by Earth Conscious, I was invited to review their natural deodorant.  I am quite a sweaty person and I need a deodorant I can trust to keep me dry and smell free so I accepted the challenge.  I’ve tried various brands, sprays, roll-ons, etc and they’re all much of a muchness.  Hippy Paste is different, it’s made from 100% natural ingredients and has a subtle fragrance, mine was Citrus.

The aroma was subtle but pleasant.  You apply it by scraping some up onto your fingertips and putting directly onto your armpits.  I think the paste may vary in different temperatures, I found it hard to get some on my fingers so I scraped my nails to scoop up a bit and then onto my fingertips.  It’s a bit weird as I’m not used to doing it that way, but it’s nice to apply and feels good on the skin, it has a grainy texture, a bit like a mild body scrub.  Any excess I rubbed in to my hands or wiped/washed off.

What’s in Hippy Paste

As you can see, it’s also made in the UK.  At only £5 it looks like it’s going to last a while depending on how often you apply it so pretty good value.

The verdict:

I’ve been using it as my sole deodorant for a few days and so far I’m quite impressed.  I don’t smell by the end of the day and no embarrassing wet patches!  The only down side is that the fragrance isn’t very strong so I would probably top it up with another application to keep the aroma up, there’s something about smelling fresh as well as feeling fresh that you just can’t beat.  I like the fact that it uses all natural ingredients and that it’s a British brand.  The little tin is light on packaging and fits easily into my handbag.

Disclosure:  I was given the product for free in return for my open and honest review.

I’d be really nervous trying something like this – but I’m certainly interested having read your review.
