There are so many London locations in the books and films, so you can get away with spending very little and still satisfy those Harry Potter fantasies. Do Some Out-of-the-Box Planning For Your Day In London
Plan your day out carefully. Would it be better to stay overnight somewhere before and after to maximise your time there? This will depend on where you are coming from. I am very lucky, I live only an hour away from London. Next, think about what HP activities and sights you can find in London (hint, we will be listing them here) and which ones are a must-see for you. Buy a travel card so you can just hop on and off transport and plan your route carefully. You will never be far away from somewhere to eat and drink in London, or you can save money and have a picnic in one of the many parks and green spaces.
How to Find the Harry Potter Hidden Gems in London
Harry Potter is a household name, and the world has been captivated by the boy who lived for years. The books have been translated into over 80 languages and have sold more than 500 million copies.
But there are many Harry Potter hidden gems in London that you may not know about. Here are some examples:
- Platform 9 and 3/4 – this exists at King’s cross station, where you can take photos, soak in the atmosphere and buy merchandise.
- Gringott’s bank was filmed in the grand interior of Australia House on Strand in central London, you can visit it for your photo album.
- The reptile house at London zoo was where Harry first discovered his powers and that he could understand snakes.
- The entrance to wizard’s pub, the Leaky Cauldron, is in real life an optician in Bull’s Head Passage in Leadenhall Market.
- Lambeth bridge and other locations were used for the route of the famous knight bus Harry took to London.
- The noble collection shop in Neal street, covent garden. So many wands and merchandise and a real experience. It also has other genres like star trek and Lord of the Rings.
If you would like some guidance and a bit of theatrics from an expert in Harry Potter, why not book a Harry Potter walk London tour to take the stress out of it. If you want to make even more of it, combine it with an overnight stay and then a trip to the Harry Potter studio tour.

Good luck Harry Potter fans, and let me know how you get on!
