A Few Ideas to get more use out of your Garden this Summer

Now that summer seems to be settling in it’s impossible not to have that urge to get outside more. Especially with the children and the fresh air being so great for them. But as our gardens may have been neglected through Winter, it can seem like a big task just to get out and enjoy it. However, with a few tweaks here and there you can be out enjoying your garden in no time. So I thought I would share with you a few ideas to make sure you get more use out of your garden this summer and for the year ahead.

Getting the most out of your garden

Make a clear space and give your garden a tidy up

Gardens can become overgrown over time. When you don’t mow the lawn as often as you should or trim back the hedges and weeding, it can become a big job. It’s understandable during the colder months. But now is the perfect time to give your garden a big tidy up. You may want to get rid of unwanted bushes and weed the flower beds. Give your lawn a good cut and even a treatment to help it grow. You may want to tackle some overgrown or tall trees. This is where you could consider calling in True Cut Tree Livonia to help you out.

Making dining al fresco easier

Eating outside should be one of the many joys of summer living. The kids can find it a real adventure and it may even encourage them to eat more. But, more often than not, we don’t do it as much as we should. So make mealtimes outside easier. Invest in some decent garden and patio furniture, giving you no excuse to take your Sunday roast outside, or even BBQ more. There is always some good deals to be had at some of the well known DIY centres.

Why not add an outdoor kitchen?

You could go one step further and add an outdoor kitchen to your garden. This means a grill BBQ as well as considering a pizza or stone oven for other types of cooking, something I’d love to add. It might encourage you to cook outside more often which again can be a great family bonding activity. A popular children’s idea is a ‘mud kitchen.’

Create a space that can be used all year round

While updating your garden try and think how you could use it all year round. This might be as simple as enjoying a morning coffee on the patio before you day starts. Adding a sheltered area means you get more outside time and fresh air even during the Spring and Autumn months when rain is a little more likely. It can be a great way to start your day, and it just requires you to give more thought to the use of your garden all year.

Consider storage to keep the garden tidy

Finally, try and keep your garden tidy by getting some storage in place. This might mean a  garden shed or something smaller if you don’t have space. Having somewhere to place the garden toys away and store the lawn mower will make your garden more welcoming.

I hope this has inspired you to get more use out of your garden!
