A bathroom renovation: Rattan Direct review

A bathroom renovation: Rattan Direct review

Our bathroom is a shrine to it’s former glory. We have original 1930s black and white art deco tiles which are beautiful, but have seen better days. Some of them are cracked beyond repair and we had to replace one when Daniel pulled a sucker bath toy off and the tile came too! We can’t afford to completely renovate the bathroom yet, but we can re-vamp it a bit.

We’ve taken off the sad mint green wallpaper and painted the walls white. Eventually I have a sandy stone colour for the walls. There never seems to be an appropriate time to paint it! What is easy though is accessorizing. I love my wooden mirror that I got from The Range. I gave it a going over with coconut oil and it really brought out the wood grain. It gives a rustic feel. I’ve also got a small mirrored cabinet with wood veneer panels. This holds our toothbrushes and toothpaste but that’s it.

I needed more storage, and with the door opening to the left as you go in, the corner becomes a dead space. I now have this rather classic and elegantly colonial looking piece from Rattan Direct. It came already assembled as a solid piece, I was impressed. I literally got it out of the box and put it in place. I don’t think I’ve ever had furniture (apart from my sofa) that didn’t require assembly from me in some way. It’s super sturdy and strong, and made from mahogany wood with wooden legs. The draws are woven tightly from natural rattan. I know it’s going to last and can see it having many different uses.

The strong basket draws are perfect for a bathroom or conservatory. It also wouldn’t look out of place in a bedroom. It’s totally transformed my bathroom from being somewhere a bit unfinished and sad looking, to almost a proper room. It’s a real grown up piece of furniture. When I’ve done the painting and popped a bath panel on, it will feel really nice. What I particularly like is that the dimensions have clearly been considered for modern life, one draw exactly fits in 6 toilet rolls – no more do I have half a bag of toilet rolls moving around in the toilet. It does mean, however, that whoever uses the last bit of loo roll has to replace it from the bathroom (they’re separate rooms). Newsflash – this doesn’t always happen.

All in all I’m really pleased with it. I am constantly fighting a losing battle from people (Daddy) putting unnecessary items on top of it, but apart from that, it’s increased my quality of life no end. Rattan Direct offer free delivery, 0% finance options and a 5 year warranty as standard, so you can have peace of mind once you buy.

Now a days newer and innovative materials are being explored in ways never done before. Furniture has been transformed into pieces of art, while art is increasingly used and adapted to define and help modify the space to add elegance, and style to the end-product.

Thank you – I love the tiles but they’re all broken and cracked
