The arrival of a new baby is a wonderful time, but it can also be something of an upheaval. The lifestyle that you knew before is changed forever. Suddenly you have very little time for yourself, and all of your waking life is spent thinking about and caring for your new baby. Below are some good products to make the transition a little easier.
A Nasal Aspirator
Because babies and infants don’t have complete control over their breathing it is common for snot to build up in the airways and cause them discomfort; they might have a runny nose, noisy breathing, snoring, sneezing, or coughing. If your baby is fussy, perhaps nursing, taking a bottle, or going to sleep, it could sign that they have some nasal congestion. The easy way to solve this is by using a nasal aspirator, which can quite effectively remove the troublesome snot.
A Baby Carrier
The first few months after the birth of your baby is colloquially known as the fourth trimester. This is because you and your baby are still experiencing the closeness of the relationship you developed during your nine months of pregnancy – you will probably find that your baby is very clingy. At the same time, you want to hold them close. Baby Wraps are a little different from signature wedding dresses, but have become very popular in recent years; they can be used by mum or dad to generate closeness and security between you and your newborn. This one is my favourite, I used it with Daniel for a long time.
Quality Infant Milk
Breastfeeding is a time for bonding with your baby, and it’s recommended for the first six months of your infant’s life and beyond (The WHO recommend two years). Still, it may not be possible for some women to breastfeed, perhaps because of a medical condition, or some medication they are on. Following the initial six months of breastfeeding, the baby can go onto formula milk. There are many different formulas to choose from depending on your baby’s constitution, choose from cows milk, goats milk, whey milk, lactose-free milk, or organic milk.
A Nighttime Multi-tasker
A nighttime multi-tasker is one of those products you can’t live without after you’ve tried it. With a new baby, there are frequent nappy changes, often at night. You will have to interrupt your sleep and find your way to your baby’s room, groping in the dark. The nighttime multi-tasker provides you with a soft night light so you can see what you’re doing and can still get back to sleep. It also uses a combination of sound and light to help create the perfect sleeping and waking patterns for your baby.
A Formula Maker
Before your baby is born, you might think that you have everything organised, but when the sleepless nights begin, things can get pretty busy and stressful. Machines and devices, like a formula maker (if you have to artificially feed), can relieve some of this stress by automating tasks motors in the past had to think about. Feeding your baby requires time and preparation; it’s important to ensure that everything is sterilised to keep your baby free from infections. With a baby formula maker, you can reclaim some of that lost time and eliminate the learning curve.
