If you thought the pandemic was over and you could get back to free-roaming the world you were mistaken, at least for now. The pandemic winter is here and everyone is attempting to stay warm and safe indoors. That doesn’t mean you can’t make the most of this period of downtime and get creative in the home. Below are some ideas for home improvements during this time.
Update the Stairs
There are often areas of the house that get neglected for many years, the stairs is one of these areas. The stairs are functional and often decorated as such, no-one ever notices the style of the stairs, even when they are halfway up them.
That doesn’t have to be the case, and in fact the pandemic is the perfect time to express the possibilities of redecorating them. Decide on a theme for your home and choose a material to complement it. Maybe carpet or wood. Otherwise you could paint them or use stencils.
Update Your Furniture
These days most of us are indoors looking after our families and protecting them from the covid virus. It makes little sense to venture outside to go furniture shopping, that will only result in more risk to your family. Instead, use what you already have.
The good news is that updating furniture is also a new trend in 2021. You are likely to see more creative solutions to interior decoration than ever before; time to reimagine that piece of IKEA furniture and make it really stand out, or contact a property buying company for a valuation.
Stencil Floor Tiles
Usually when we need to update our interior design we think about browsing categories and spending money, we think about bringing in new items of furniture and how much a painter will cost. Rarely do we consider the possibilities of what we already have.
Until now that is. With the pandemic lockdown keeping everyone at home for safety it’s time to explore other possibilities. It’s good news if you have white tiles in your bathroom or kitchen. You can stencil interesting patterns on them to fit with your interior theme.
Create a Table Feature
Seasonal centerpieces might sound old fashioned, like something from a few centuries ago, but like most things people like they come back around with a modern twist. This is the case with interesting table features.
Instead of a traditional seasonal centerpiece in the middle of the table, people are now creating overhanging features. These are generally made of ‘found branches and other items brought in from your lockdown nature walk.
Paint a Mural
There’s nothing like a global pandemic to get your creative juices flowing. When you’re inside all day looking after the kids and writing you start to see your home differently and maybe decide to create a new interior vision. It’s perfect if you have a theme in mind.
Developing the interior of your home around a theme gives it intention and continuity. The great thing is that not all the rooms need to be the same theme either. Consider painting a mural in one of them for practice and to bring colour to a dreary space.
