Consciously or unconsciously, you may have been prepared for the drastic bodily changes that happen in your body during pregnancy. Several exciting moments will make you embrace your cute bump and swollen feet as part of the journey to motherhood. However, nothing prepares you for the postpartum changes that make you feel like you’re in a different body, and there can be a lot of pressure to ‘snap back’ like nothing happened, which can be exhausting. Here are some tips worth considering to help you embrace your new body.
- Let go of your expectations
After witnessing the wonders of your body in pregnancy and childbirth, you may start wondering when you’ll fit into your little black dress again. You might even look for quick ways to lose pregnancy weight and stretch marks. However, this is the time to consider letting go of your expectations and allowing your body to evolve at its own pace, as it takes time. Get comfortable with elastic band clothing, spaghetti straps, and buttoned shirts. It would help if you focused more on your nutrition during that period and stayed away from the scale.
- Combine style with comfort
As a new mum, it is not uncommon to be in pyjamas all day, in-between sleep deprivation and constant wailing. Staying attractive and taking care of yourself can seem far-fetched, and you seek comfort above anything else. That doesn’t mean grabbing a few stylish and comfy clothes for yourself is impossible. You can opt for super versatile leggings, breastfeeding-friendly bodysuits, oversized shirts, a good pair of maternity jeans or a nice blazer to complete your look. You can also stay chic while saving money by shopping at a designer outlet. You can easily pick up some designer oversized shirts or designer oversized t shirt whilst you are shopping.
- Take one step at a time
Are you having a hard time accepting the permanent changes after birth? The road to self-acceptance and self-love begins with a step. The first step is to look good wherever you are in the process. Revamp your wardrobe to suit your changes when needed. If you are worried about the postpartum belly, find outfits that flatter your body. For instance, a maxi dress with vertical stripes would do, while ruched details give your midsection that extra oomph. It’s all about identifying little ways to embrace your body, giving yourself a lot of time and loving yourself. This leads to the next point.
- Show yourself a little kindness
Clothes can help us look and feel good, like when we wear oversized shirts womens wear, but that extra light comes from within. Look into the mirror with kindness and try to identify unique features of your body. Your body has stretched itself in superhuman ways and deserves to be celebrated. Bring out your best features with your makeup and accessories. Incorporate your favourite colours and patterns into your wardrobe, invest in classic pieces, and live your best life in style.
Fashion and postpartum might not seem like they belong in the same sentence, but they can go hand in hand. Always ensure that your style makes you feel emotionally and physically good. Embrace your new body, love it daily, and invest in its appearance. Your life is your runway; walk confidently.
