Some canine breeds are notable for having unruly hair. The only way to manage the hair is with routine grooming, which could end up costing thousands each year. This is money that most households do not have, but this does not mean that people want their dog to look like a shaggy old rug. Instead of relying on professional dog grooming services, it is possible to keep your dog’s coat looking beautiful and healthy with home dog grooming. Now, this task will not be as easy as it seems. But, with the tips listed below, you will become an expert at grooming your furry friend at home.
Invest In Quality Clippers

One of the first things you will need to do is invest in a high-quality clipper. There is a broad array of brands for you to choose from, so do a bit of research before making a selection. Out of all the dog lover gifts you can get for someone, this will give them the most value. If you want to get the most out of your money, be sure to stick with well-known name-brand clippers. With the extended warranty offered by these brands, you will not be at financial risk in the event the clipper arrives or becomes damaged within the warranty range. These are my personal favourites, from when I used to do dog grooming myself!
A high-quality clipper will cost anywhere from £20 to £150. But, when you consider how much money you have been investing in professional dog grooming services, the price will seem minor.
Shampoos And Conditioners
A great way to prepare the dog’s fur for the clipping process is to start with a good shampooing and conditioning. However, to get the most out of these products, you will need to make sure they contain moisturising ingredients. These ingredients will not only help manage the dog’s fur but also keep it healthy and shiny after the clipping process is complete.
Your dog is your best friend, which means you will want to protect him from heartworms. The best and only way to do this is with Heartgard Plus Chewables. If you are wondering where to buy heartgard, just do a quick search inquiry online. PetCareRx is a reliable pharmacy that offers Heartgard products for a very affordable price.
Proper Doggy Dental Care
Many dogs just love to chew on just about anything they can get their hands and their jaws on. Yet surprisingly, canine dental care is a commonly overlooked part of dog grooming.
For added strength and protection of the teeth and gums, don’t forget to get vet-recommended dog chews as well. These types of treats are free from harmful additives or ingredients, ensuring that your dog’s teeth stay healthy as they chew. Proper dental care can be done at home, and it’s a great way to prevent any issues that may cost you more.
You should take great care in making sure that you are feeding your dog well, too, because the right dog food is always going to be a major part of this as well. To that end, it’s important to make sure that you buy dog food that is going to be good for them. This is going to help with their dental care too.
Frequent Brushing
Once you clip your dog’s fur, you will need to follow up with frequent brushing and combing. This process will help keep your dog’s skin and coat healthy, shiny, and groomed. The tips of the teeth on the comb or tips of the bristles on the brush will gently rake across the skin, breaking away the dead skin and dirt. The end result, is healthy skin, and hair.
A brush with stiff bristles will be required to remove dead hair. Once you complete the brushing process follow up with a soft chamois cloth, which will give the fur a nice sheen.
Trim Toenails
Last, but not least is toenail trimming. Now, if your dog is finicky, you may have difficulty trimming its toenails. See this article for tips on how to trim your dog’s toenails. It may take a bit of practice and coaxing to urge the dog to remain still throughout the process. If the dog is accustomed to the process, you can add a coat of dog nail polish to the top of the nails!

I had a Samoyed many years ago. Grooming him was… well, let’s leave it at a challenge! I think dog nail polish would have been a step too far for both of us 😀

Excellent tips! You are night with right information and knowledge you need not spend a bomb on your pets grooming. You are also correct about many pet owners being completely ignorant about the importance of the oral health care of their pets, some of them even apply their own paste on them which most of the pets do not like.
