How you can save time in your blog business

Most parenting bloggers like me have the same issues when it comes to maintaining and growing their blog business. One of the main ones is time management. With children around they need so much of both parent’s time that it can be hard to focus on your business goals. What you need to do is streamline your tasks and find as many shortcuts as possible.

Whatever you do you there will be a finite amount of time you have, so it is important to have realistic goals. I would like to achieve so many things, but it got to the point where I was feeling guilty for not earning 6 figures per year and being a total boss babe and a published author. Once I re-evaluated and realised I had all I needed and I prefer to have some time to myself as well as time with my family, my goals became simpler.

However, there are areas we can streamline and delegate. As your business grows you can invest in certain products and outsource tasks to a virtual assistant rather than taking it all on yourself.

Create email responses

Reading and responding to emails takes up a lot of my time. They tend to be the same responses over and over so I set up some standard responses to save time. They are usually my rates for guest posts, link insertions, sponsored posts, sponsored social media or attaching my rate card. I also have standard responses for when work is done, including my PayPal or invoice details. There are lots of email tools you can use like this one for creating mass email campaigns.

Make a blog post blueprint

If you’re on wordpress and have the gutenburg blocks, make some reusable blocks. I have reusable ones for my disclosure, signature, and certain paragraphs I use for regular featured posts. They save so much time and you just slot them in to your new posts. If you have a regular feature like your favourite products every month for example, you can duplicate that post and make a new draft, it saves you starting from scratch every time.

Hire a virtual assistant

A good VA is worth their weight in gold. A virtual assistant is like having an employee who works for you anywhere in the world. They can do various tasks for you, I would start by taking a look at what takes up most of your time and what you don’t enjoy. It could be designing pins for Pinterest, social media marketing, content creation, checking broken links, Instagram growth, or keyword research. Try asking in your blogging Facebook groups, search on Fiverr or go by recommendation.

Create an invoice template

I have a standard invoice template in a word document that I use for all my clients. It includes my details and logo, my bank details, PayPal details and my email address. All I need to do then is save a new copy and edit the details and it’s done. You can also find other invoice templates online. Once you have your template saved just remember to save a new copy each time and then change the details.

Use Tailwind for pinning new pins

I still use Tailwind for pinning my new pins to all my boards and group boards at set intervals. It saves me putting them all in manually. They also have a new function where you can put in one or two images and they will automatically create new pins for you. That has been so useful for me. I also use the tribes function. Sign up for a free trial here, if you’re already signed up, join my tribe here. Tribes help you grow faster on Pinterest, gain better reach and of course, increase blog traffic.

Use a social media scheduler

I use two different social media schedulers, but you probably only need one. Firstly I use socialbee for my sharing social media prompts like questions, memes and videos and my evergreen content. I also complement it with missinglettr, which notifies me when I publish a new post and sets up auto-sharing campaigns for me to post to Facebook and Twitter. That has been great for engagement, and you can set evergreen posts to share over a 12 month period and set and forget it. It’s a matter of personal preference which one you prefer.

I hope these tips help you set up some things that will save you time in the long run. Let me know how you get on and feel free to ask me any questions you have.
