Every single mother to be wants one thing: a healthy pregnancy. A healthy pregnancy leads to a healthy baby and a healthy birth, so it’s in the best interests of the mother to be to get the best possible care throughout her pregnancy. The first thing you need? Education!
The more you know about how to have a healthy pregnancy, the better you will feel and the happier you will be when the baby is born. Below, we’ve put together six tips to help you to achieve a healthy pregnancy from the moment you figure out you are having a baby.
- Go To Your Appointments. Ultrasound scans and midwife appointments are so important to monitor the health of your new baby. From the moment you know you’re pregnant, letting your doctor know is vital so that you can get the best possible care. Your ultrasound scans will be booked based on when your doctor knows you are pregnant. Attending these appointments is going to matter so much for your continued health.
- Vitamins. All pregnant women should be told which vitamins to take by their healthcare provider, but the most important are folic acid and multi-vitamins to give them the chance of a healthy baby. Folic acid ensures that your baby has a developed brain and spinal cord!
- Let Go Of Bad Habits. Many women who smoke before pregnancy often find it challenging to give up smoking during pregnancy. However, it’s so essential for the health of your child that you give up the bad habits. You can choose to find cheap vape deals over smoking 20 a day, but the best thing to do is get advice from your midwife. If you are drinking, it’s time to give it up. Sure, the guidelines may say that you can have a glass of wine a day, but it’s always better not to risk it and to err on the side of caution.
- Watch Your Diet. The first trimester is going to be a tough one when it comes to a healthy diet. Your body will crave what it craves, and you should eat what you can manage. The best thing that you could do, though, is to always lean on the side of healthy behaviours where possible. Lots of fruit and vegetables are a must, as is hydrating with water! Water is so vital whether you are pregnant or not, but especially now!
- Exercise. You do not need to hit the gym to be healthy in pregnancy; however, you should consider getting in your steps every day. It’ll ensure that you remain healthy while you grow your baby. Go for a walk in the fresh air every single day, and you will encourage your body to stay healthy. You don’t have to walk for hours, but you do need to get moving.
- Postnatal Care. While you are still pregnant, line up your postpartum care. If you plan to get gently back into exercise, buy the workout DVDs or book a class now. Knowing you are cared for postnatally is going to allow you to remain happy and healthy while you are pregnant. A happy mum equals a happy baby!
