Disclosure: collaborative post

The first time you fall pregnant can be a little daunting and some women find the entire process incredibly confusing. However, to help guide you through these next few months, you’ll be placed under the care of your midwife.

A midwife is a fully registered and competent medical professional, who specialises in assisting women, not just through the stages of labour but also throughout their pregnancies. Midwifery is regulated, and constant training is also provided. If you choose to give birth in a hospital, you’ll notice that the midwife is usually accompanied by a senior midwife who is there to supervise the process.
