Having a baby is one of the most exciting yet life-changing things that you will ever go through. It will completely change how you look, feel and think and you will have this beautiful little person to take care of. Yet it can also take a knock on your self-confidence and you might find that you don’t feel as good about yourself as you once did. It’s important to remember that while your body has changed, you’ve also grown a human and that is an incredible feat. This aside, if you are looking to get fit after having a baby, there are some things you can do to help your journey along. Here we take a look at some top tips.
Don’t be too hard on yourself
Pregnancy is exhausting and difficult. It’s one of the most challenging things you will ever do in your life and as such you need to be proud of what you have gone through. Instead of focusing on how negatively your body has changed, instead give yourself a realistic goal and don’t be too hard on yourself. You are going through a big life change and as such need to be kind to yourself. If there are some days when you really don’t feel like exercising and you are just exhausted, you need to respect your body and not push it too hard. Eat that chocolate or cheese if you crave it and don’t be too harsh on yourself. Remember you are probably getting up for night feeds, might be breast feeding and are going through a lot. It’s just as important to take care of your mental health as it is your physical health so keep this in mind.
Find an exercise you love
If the thought of running has you feeling nauseous, or the idea of going to a packed gym makes you anxious, this isn’t the be-all and end-all of your exercise. In fact, there are a huge variety of exercises you can do and you just need to find one that you love. Why not try out a fitness class such as body pump, yoga or pilates? Get the right womens gym shirts and you’ll feel at your best. Or alternatively you could try something such as netball or tennis. Keep trying until you find something you love – you will find it much less of an effort to work out if it’s something you look forward to rather than dread!
Find a fitness buddy
Exercise is never as hard when you have someone to do it with. Find a friend or family to work out with and you will soon find that it’s much less painful and can keep you motivated. If you have someone to go with, you can both help to spur each other on and keep eachother going when you want to give up. As well as being a great way to keep fit, it also offers a chance for you to catch up and spend some time together when you might not otherwise be able to meet.
Take your vitamins
Vitamins are another important part of keeping fit after having a baby and it’s important as part of your fitness journey that you take care of your overall health and wellbeing. There are many types of ways you can get your take of vitamins, including taking supplements as well as having a healthy diet. Some websites such as pharmagear.pro also offer things that can help with your gym performance and help you to bulk. Be sure to check you can take these while breastfeeding if that is something you are doing.
Set yourself a goal
Goals are a great way to keep yourself on track.
These are just a few things you can do in order to get fit after having a baby. Pregnancy plays a huge toll on your body and you change a lot in that time. The last thing you want is to put a huge amount of pressure on yourself that can leave you feeling upset and downhearted. Remember that while your body has changed, you’ve produced something amazing. While it might take longer to get the gym body you might desire, it can happen and you just need to be kind to yourself. What do you think of our top tips for getting fit after having a baby?
