Disclosure: collaborative post

This year has been a difficult one for everyone, and with Christmas coming up it is the perfect excuse to cheer people up with some great gifts. But what can you do this year to make it a little bit special?

A Survival Kit

You could make your own survival kit for someone who is having to isolate over Christmas, there are some ready-made ones online, and one example contains a balloon – to help you reach for the sky, a coloured pencil– to make your day bright and colourful, a rubber band – to stretch yourself beyond your limits, a tea bag – to remember to take some time out and relax, a tissue – to wipe away any tears, a playing card – to remind you always to make the best of what life deals you, a mint so you know you’re worth a ‘mint’ to your friends and loved ones, fizzers sweets – to add extra ‘fizz’ to your life, love hearts – to remind you that you are loved, a candle – to light the way and guide you, a paperclip – so you can hold things together, coffee– to give you extra energy, a button – to remind you it is sometimes best to button your lip and a plaster – to remind you I’ll always be there in times of need. This is such a lovely and sweet idea but one you could definitely do yourself and change it, so it’s more personal for your friend.

Images of Hope

For those who are on their own this year then sending them a photo album of the ones they love could really cheer them up, or you could do something like buying someone travel posters of places you have been together or places you’re going to go together as soon as you can.

Hampers

There are loads of Christmas hampers available right now from luxury chocolate hampers to gin hampers to biscuit hampers; you can get pretty much anything. Hampers are another thing you can make yourself though so why not get together a load of things that your friends or family member love and put them all together to create their perfect hamper.

A Voucher

Vouchers may sometimes seem like a cop-out, but this is not the case if you get the right one. A pampering voucher, for example, could give someone you love something to look forward to once we can get back to having beauty treatments and massages. As it’s been such a stressful year for everyone, this would also help out a local spa with their business.

Positive Messages

From affirmation cards to posters, you can cheer people up with little words of wisdom and hope that they can read each day. Not only will this inspire them and keep them positive, but every time they look at a card or read a quote, they will think of you too.
