We’re in the planning stages for our extension at the moment finally after living in our house for 8 years. We’re going to be extending the downstairs to include a bigger kitchen with a dining space and open plan living room, then upstairs there will be a loft extension to make two more bedrooms. The small box room will then become our office/ wardrobe to the main bedroom. What excites me the most is decorating these new spaces and personalising them.
My daughter will have her own room back, after sharing with her little brother for the last 5 years. She’s so excited, she loves everything Harry Potter, plus she has a soft spot for Pandas, frogs and sloths. It will be great to give each of them their own space and a desk and more storage. We can also personalise all their rooms. I love this cheeky Panda wall art with a bow tie – she loves everything yellow because it links to Hufflepuff house so it’s perfect.
My eldest is in the small room at the moment so he has hardly any space, and can’t do his homework in there currently. Now he’s 11 it will be a more grown-up space but he still would like a bit of a Minecraft theme.
Downstairs will be mine to personalise, I want clean lines but I like a homely feel and not too much bling. I love nature, both animals and floral, trees and leaves. I already have a botanical theme in my dining room, so I will probably extend this throughout the new space. I don’t want to decide on a theme for sure just yet, but I do like the idea of having some slogans mixed in with art and photographs. Check out this teapot art print, what do you think? Too twee or just go for it?
The boys will be living upstairs in the loft extension and they will be sharing their own bathroom – am I mad for doing this?! Haha, we’ll find out. I will be making them a little chore list and trust me they will be taking turns in cleaning their toilet and shower. Men never seem to clean sinks, or is that just my experience? Again I like the idea of some art in their bathroom. I’ve grown up appreciating art and I can’t imagine having bare walls anywhere. Maybe just this poster will suffice…
Why does no-one but me hang up their towels after using them? I don’t understand it. These are just a few ideas I have, and I’m sure I will be adding to my mood board over the next few weeks before we start, which we hope to in early spring 2021 (covid permitting).
What do you think? Let me know in the comments.
