Now more than ever, it seems like folks are really paying attention to skincare; it’s really becoming a major concern regardless of age and gender. To a degree, this can be a good thing. It’s not so much about anti-aging skincare, but it’s more about taking care of the largest organ you have, which is your skin.

But there’s one problem with this giant wave of skincare trends: it’s more of the fact that it’s being targetted as a “one size fits all” when it shouldn’t be that way. You see, when it comes to skincare, for the most part, it’s not one size fits all. Sure, everyone needs to protect themselves from the sun all year long, but that’s one of the only few things. Your skincare routine and what you put on your skin really needs to be based on your skin type and not what some random influencer says on TikTok. So, here’s exactly why you need a tailored skincare routine based on your skintype!

You Need to Understand the Diversity in Skin Types

So, as stated above, it’s vital to keep in mind that skin is not a one-size-fits-all entity. Different individuals possess various skin types, including oily, dry, combination, sensitive, and “normal.” Each type comes with its set of characteristics, challenges, and specific needs. Plus, there are health conditions that can affect skin types and what your skin might be able to handle that someone else can’t. So, if you have dry skin, Googling something like “how to use body lotion on dry skin” is best so you can get results tailored to your skin type.

Overall, recognising and understanding your skin type is the first step toward developing a skincare routine that caters to its unique requirements. For the most part, you can see a dermatologist to get an idea of your skin type, or if you already know your skin type, you could then start the skincare routine, such as getting special prescription skincare products based on your skin type and skin condition in general.

Each Skin Type has Special Concerns

Another thing you have to keep in mind is that each skin care type is going to have special concerns, and if you have certain skin or medical conditions, than those are also going to have their own concerns too. So, if you have a certain skin type, you want to spend time and money on skincare that’s actually going to help it, not make it worse. Your skin has particular needs and you need to make sure you’re getting products that actually target those needs. Some newer biotech formulas, such as those from Calecim, are designed to work with your skin’s natural repair process, making them a thoughtful option when choosing products for your specific skin type.

Easier to Narrow Down What You Need

There are hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of products out on the market, all of which focus on skincare. Plus, there are plenty of skincare trends that keep coming out each week too. It can be overwhelming, but if you know your skin type and the needs for it, then it’s going to be way easier to narrow down what you have to buy and do in the name of better skin.

Better Understanding of Seasonal Change

Yes! All skin types have certain needs throughout each season; what’s needed for dry skin in the summer usually isn’t the same as what is needed in the winter. So, you need to be adaptable, even with age, when it comes to your skin, and it’s honestly going to help a lot with what skin type you have for this.
