It’s been so hot lately, we’re finally having the British summertime we always dreamed of – except it might be too hot! Thankfully it won’t last long. I was delighted to get some new clothes for the summer holidays from Yours clothing. Yours clothing is for plus sizes, and they start from a size 14 and go up to a size 40. Their shoe sizes range from a 3 to a 10 and you can get up to an extra wide fit if you need it. I am between a size 14 and 16 but I usually end up getting a 16. I found the clothes from yours tended to be a generous fit, I probably could have fitted a 14, but I like things roomy and comfortable, so I’m happy with the sizing. They describe themselves as the queen of curves. On their website the models they use are plus-sized, but perhaps on the smaller side of plus-sized. You can get a good idea of how the clothes will look on you from the models. Hopefully, my pictures and descriptions will give you an idea too.
First up I ordered the curve black astrology smock dress in a size 16. It’s made from lightweight polyester and elastane and it was so nice to wear in the heat. It fitted well and was true to size. The smock style can make you look a bit pregnant if you’re not careful, but you can always add a belt. I liked the airflow the dress gave me, it cooled me down! My favourite part of this dress was the design. I’m a witch at heart, and I love to express it via my clothes and accessories. The pattern gives me sun, moon, yin yang and stars vibes and I enjoy wafting around in it or going barefoot in the garden to connect with the earth. The short sleeves are a generous cut and cover the whole upper arm, giving room for ventilation. The great thing about this dress is that if you like the style and fit, it comes in different colours and patterns, so you can order more of the same style and you know it will suit you.

Next up, I chose the curve pink paisley boho maxi dress in a size 16. It is long-sleeved and made from 100% viscose. It has a v-neck that scoops low enough for a bit of cleavage, with bell sleeves leading to a cuffed wrist. I fell in love with the pattern again with this dress. It has a smock style fitting again, this time I wore my own belt with it to give it a more structured fit. I probably could size down with this dress if I wanted to, but I like the relaxed fit. I sometimes need a petite size for maxi dresses and trousers, but this fits nicely and doesn’t drag on the floor. Again, it’s a dress to waft around in and keep cool, or it could be dressed up for a wedding, dressed down for holidays and the pattern and long sleeves can take you into autumn if you team it with a cardigan and boots. By the way, my photographer for this shoot was my daughter Phoebe who is currently 11 – I think she did a great job.

Lastly, I wanted a dress I could wear for a special occasion, we have two wedding receptions to go to in September and of course I can’t wear anything I already have, don’t be ridiculous. I went classic with a little black dress and timeless style. It’s called the curve black lace shift midi dress in a size 16. The belt is mine that I added to give it a bit of structure. I’m a more curvy bottom-heavy shape and although my stomach is far from flat, I like to have a defined waist in most things to make the most of my shape. I really like the fit of the dress, it’s generous around the bust and the keyhole cutout adds a bit of sex appeal so you don’t feel frumpy. The sleeves reach just below my elbow and are not tight. I can’t wait to wear it out, I didn’t want to take this one off. Unfortunately, we had to give the kids dinner and put them to bed.

I also chose some black trousers for work, again they fit true to size and they are practical for what I need in my job as a practice nurse. If you’re a size 14 or over, Yours clothing has a large range of clothes and accessories, so why not give them a try? They even do menswear. If you have any questions let me know.
