Getting involved in a car accident is a fear many drivers have. Do you experience anxiety every time you drive? When you drive with your kids in the car, you are not just responsible for your safety, but theirs as well. They depend on you to get to their destination safely. There are several things you can do to prevent a car accident when the kids are in the car with you.
Concentrate on your driving
When the kids are in the car, you can get distracted easily. If anything happens that needs your attention, it is best to follow the child car safety guide by pulling over. It is also essential to train your kids on the importance of absolute concentration when you are driving. This way they can learn to hold on until you get to where you are going before seeking your attention.
Never use your phone while driving
Smartphones have been a blessing, but they have also been the cause of many accidents on the road. Social media, that text message you forgot to respond to, or that return call is not as urgent as you concentrating on your drive. You may be distracted for just a second. However, sometimes all it takes is a split second for an accident to occur.
Respect the road signs and Traffic rules
If you are approaching the traffic lights, only proceed if it is your turn to do so. It does not matter if there are no cars on any of the other lanes. If you are required to stop, do so. It would be best if you also stuck to the speed limits. This is not just to keep you and your kids safe, but an opportunity to teach your kids about rules and the importance of following them.
Organize your music before driving
If you enjoy driving with the music on, pre-set your favorite music before you start driving. Always ensure you have all the music you need for the duration of your drive. This will keep you from attempting to change the music. It may seem a simple enough quest, but you may be distracted long enough to cause or be involved in an accident.
Ensure your car is in excellent mechanical condition
Never take chances at driving a car that has mechanical issues with your kids on board. If you feel the car is not performing as it should, it is best to be safe. Ask your mechanic to have a look at it and only drive with your kids in the car when the problem is solved. Besides the risk of getting involved in an accident, being stuck with the kids on the roadside should the car give way can be overwhelming.
Safety and driving are synonymous. Take every step to ensure you are not at fault should you be involved in an accident. If every driver took the necessary precautions, the number of kids involved in car accidents would fall tremendously. The children look up to adults for direction. They will be responsible drivers in the future if they are taught the responsibility that comes with driving.

I definitely agree that a driver is also responsible for the safety of their passengers especially if they are driving with kids. It reminded me of my friend who got into an auto accident with her daughter and they are both in the hospital right now. I heard that they haven’t received any assistance from her insurance provider for the accident, so it might be better if their family would seek a lawyer who can help them.

Also, bear in mind that pedestrians who are crossing busy streets are often busy doing something else: listening to music, texting or talking on a phone. Those distracted walkers often fail to look both ways for traffic or follow other safety rules.
A study conducted during the summer in Seattle, Wash., found that more than 26 percent of the 1,000-plus walkers were using electronic devices as they navigated intersections where pedestrians had been hit in the past. And this is worrying!

December 12, 2021 at 8:25 amThough organizing music may not seem like an important thing to do but it could be a lifesaver because I know of an instance when the father of a famous celebrity lost control of his wheels while trying to change the music and the car fell into the valley and he died.
