5 Ways to Lead a More Sustainable Life

Sharing is caring!

When you care about the planet, you start making changes to ensure its health. There are many things we can do daily to ensure sustainability is a part of our everyday lives. Here are a few ways you can show the planet you care about through living a more sustainable life:

Change the way you shop

If you buy at your local grocery store, chances are you’re stocking up on plenty of waste for your home’s trash can. This is where sustainable habits can really make a difference. Instead of shopping for everything at the grocery store, look for shops that sell non-packaged goods.

Whether that’s Lush for your shampoos and soap or it’s buying food from non-package stores online, there are options for sustainable shopping. Look online for local stores that sell foods, where you bring your containers and pay for the weight. It may take some getting used to at first, but it’s a great way to start a more sustainable lifestyle. If you must buy packaged goods, whether espresso capsules or other must-haves, make sure they’re made sustainably.

Stop drinking from plastic water bottles

Plastic bottles shouldn’t exist anymore, but we still and will always need water. While gas stations and stores have stocks of plastic water bottles, avoid using plastic by investing in a filtration system at home for your drinking water and a Hydroflask tumbler for water on the go. Buy a big one, so you never have to stop to pick up water on a hot day—you’ll have your cold water with you that could last all day.

Grow your produce

Growing your own produce can help you reduce your carbon footprint in more ways than one. The produce bought at the grocery store took fuel and more to get to you and sometimes extra plastic packaging. With this in mind, have you ever thought about creating your own garden to grow veggies?

While you may not have enough space for all of the great greens you love, at least consider planting some of your favorites with the area you have for more sustainability,

Vote for politicians who care

Some believe in climate change, and some do not. When you vote for a politician who cares about our planet, you’re creating a sustainable world with people who care about our planet. Consider running for a position in your region. You may not change the world, but perhaps you could make a dent by changing YOUR world.

Save energy in your home

A great way to help care for the planet is by saving energy in your home. Not only is it a sustainable move to make, but you’ll also be saving money. From making sure your home is adequately insulated, from windows to doors, to saving energy when using your thermostat to cool or heat your home, there are many ways for you to “green” your home for a more sustainable lifestyle.

In Conclusion

Living a more sustainable life could mean making some changes in your life. From growing some food in your backyard to changing the way you heat your home in the winter, there are small changes that can make a significant impact on our planet. Take some time to see which difference you want to implement first. You don’t have to make drastic changes at once, but try and start small by bringing your bags to the grocery store or your coffee mug to a coffee shop.

Reducing your carbon footprint may not seem like much, but as you start to live a more sustainable lifestyle, you may find yourself inspiring more people to do so as well.
