We’ve all seen those lovely mug shots on Instagram, aspirational pictures of mugs and slogans, or just posed shots of bloggers drinking their morning tea or coffee #coffeeislife #ineedcoffee #instamug (yes that hashtag exists, there’s over 23000 mug pictures, but also a lot of pictures of pugs, and people who can’t spell pug). Mugs are now becoming stars in their own rights, and if you catch any Facebook lives or vlogs, there is often a cup of something featuring heavily. It just brings out the cosy factor, and if you have a catchy slogan or a funky design, it makes people warm to you and can help your brand identity if you stick to a certain style. Whether it’s a dainty vintage tea cup or a big takeaway coffee mug, funky drinking receptacles are everywhere, and can convey a marketing message well if used correctly. There’s some great ones here! How do we allow ourselves to get attached to mugs though? I recently bought one in EuroDisney – a black & white mickey cartoon with a huge red K on it… that’s MINE! not the children’s or the husband’s but MINE! haha
