My Child Expanda Group 2/3 Car Seat Review

With three children, choosing the right car seat is important to me, it’s got to fit in the back of the car neatly for one thing! I can’t have seats that are too wide, otherwise it makes putting the seatbelts in a nightmare. I’m a working mother, and I feel like I’m constantly ferrying the children from here to there and back again. I want them to be comfortable and I want the car seat to last. I chose this My child car seat for William from Kiddies Kingdom, which is a group 2/3 – this means it should last until he’s out of car seats, which in the UK is when he’s 12 or over 135cm. He’s getting pretty close to the height limit now, he’s come so far since he was a teeny tiny prem baby at 3lb 7oz! Back then I had to pad out the car seat so he’d fit in it! Things have changed somewhat..

The key thing about this car seat from My Child is that it expands and grows with your child. The head rest height can be increased as can the width and it has 5 positions, so it can be used from age 4 until 12. It’s supersoft and William says it’s very comfy. He’s chuffed with it.

The arm rests keep him snug and safe. It’s safety that’s the main priority, when you’re choosing a car seat, I know budget is important, so you should always get the best you can afford. All car seats in the UK have to conform to safety standards, and some go above and beyond with extra protection, some have designer features. The My Child range is mid budget I’d say, not the cheapest, it’s retailing for £69.99 at the moment,  but not the most expensive. The black and grey are practical in my eyes, they don’t show the dirt so much, and the 3D foam padding makes the car seat durable. The material is leather like, and wipes clean. Safety wise, it has full body side impact protection and five position adjustable side impact wings. I’m so pleased with it, I know it’s going to last us, and for us it’s a big step up from what we had, which was a cheaper one that was rock hard. Next stop will be one for Phoebe.

You can tell from this photo that the side protection is superior to the pink seat. The seatbelt fits comfortably over as normal. It’s lightweight and easy to transfer into a different car if needed.
